Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Key word "was", right? :D My plan is to shoot the WHOLE bird in 36375, do the panel lines, warsh it off somewhat, re-shoot LIGHTLY in 36375, re-wash, etc. etc., then mask the spine/canopy surround area, and shoot that area, along with the upper wings and fuselage surfaces, with a lightened 36320, blending in the areas aft of the spine area. Then I'll re-wash, re-shoot, etc. etc. I plan to document my steps in photos, and post 'em. I bought Steel Beach FOD intake covers, and resin FOD covered exhaust nozzles...it's going to take divine intervention to get the nozzles on without a huge step between the nozzles and the engine trunk. Anyone notice that in the 1st and 2nd photos, No. 100 is carrying BOL rails, and in the 3rd photo (w/ the LANTIRN) those look to be the "standard" rails? Anyone know where (or how) I can get the Pentagon marking that's visible in the 3rd photo, under the 100 ? Take care y'all. Mitch Actually you may want to consider Brian's (VF-103guy's) pinned post in here on weathering the TPS....
MA Cooke
Andrew D.: The method I just described worked pretty well for me on my VF-31 bird that I completed in mid-February. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e291/MACooke/F-14D005.jpg I plan to do something similar, just a bit dirtier. Thanks for all the advise fellahs! Mitch
