Well here it is. Will be built oob and curbside. There's no engine anyway wth Fujimi?

Paint will be Alclad chrome and I'll be using the Alclad aqua gloss clear for the first time as well so I can handle it. Im trying to finish one or two other projects before but I may do some things tonight.

And so I've begun down this terrible road.

As this is curbside (no engine) an has a complex paint scheme (chrome) I'll be attempting to glue most of the body together before paint. That way everything gets a uniform coat of paint.

So let's begin

Started with the gearbox. This will all get painted semigloss black

A60FC291-5D44-47A7-BD69-0B859320BECD_zpslhxuwizp.jpg

Then came the monocoque. Installed the driver surround and these two small panels next to the cockpit. Then installed the upper and lower halves after making sure I could get the seat and cockpit in later.

Leaves a seam down the sides that will have to be dealt with perfectly so it doesn't show.

Also started on the nose cone. You glue the wing supports to the lower half of the nose. All told there's 6 pieces of the nose cone alone.

Then there's the rest of the front and rear wing pieces.

Brace yourselves.

Yes those are all wing pieces. Most of which the front wing.

I've got most of the body glued together. Need to hit up the LHS for some paint soon. May have to wait for this weekend.

I did splurge today though and ordered the carbon fibre decals from Mac's modeling. They're expensive but this cars so new it would look odd without the cf parts. Plus I like doing decals so maybe I'm a glutton for punishment.

Body prep will continue through the next few days. Then I'll wash everything and hopefully get the gloss black painted.

Pics tomorrow.

While not a real fan of model autos, I'm looking forward to see what you do with this one, 'hammm. Those wing assemblies like to be real patience testers. Good luck on it.

The wing should be a challenge but nothing like the little Tameo disaster I've been dealing with.

Won't be much to show for about a week or so. Sanding n polishing the body. Awaiting my cf decals for everything else.

I may get a seatbelt set too.

Thanks for looking in

So I got this the other day.

And then proceeded to hit some of the suspension pieces.

The Future was still wet on the separate pieces.

And the rear suspension assembly

I'm surprised and disappointed a little that there are no cf decals for the under tray. Rather large significant piece they didn't include. For the price of the sheet you would have thought it'd be there. Oh well.

Carrying on.

Oh cripes!! YGBKM!! Is the front spoiler covered with the CF decals, too? I could build mine without the CF, but I get the feeling it wouldn't look right without. Looks great, looking forward to more.

Don sit down.

Are you sitting?

If you look at the decal sheet pictured you'll notice there's two sheets. A full size sheet and then a smaller rectangular sheet that's in front at the bottom.

ALL OF THOSE go on the front wing and nose section.

Lol

Edit. Well most. Some go in the cockpit.

You can find them on eBay or other outlets.

I got mine from Mac's Modeling. Which is one of the open wheel GBs sponsors!

I think he has one sheet left.

I won't tell you the price as I don't want to be responsible for your heart attack.

But I will say Mac's prices are extremely reasonable.

If you do order make sure n thank him for the GB sponsorship too!

Falcon thanks. It's really not that bad. I actually enjoy decals and I have a method now where I stand in front of our electric fireplace and use that with microsol and it snuggles down decals quite quickly.

This was a learning process though as I've bent and mangled the random suspension arm from too much heat. Lol.

Went to the LHS and bought some more paint today. Got the Alclad aqua gloss clear. Which isn't clear at all but I'll take their word for it. Also got some MM "lacquer" gloss black. Which I didn't even know existed.

Also also got some sandin pads that go to 60000 grit

Time to work on the body even more!

Just had a look on Macs Modelling, that is a bit expensive. Would have to think about those ones. Truthfully I thought WOW!!! That's out there!!, but when I look at how much some aircraft stuff is it really isn't too bad. There's other stuff he as, too. If/when I do another 1/12 build i'll have o have another look.

The main body is ready to be painted black. I think I've got the plastic as close to perfect as I'm capable of. I guess we'll see.

I also started some construction on the front wing. I want to glue as much together before paint so i an get it uniform and not botch the paint with glue blobs trying to put it together. The molding is very impressive as some of these pieces are paper thin plastic.

Few more pieces to put together then clean up a little an ill be about ready to start painting.

Gloss black has been applied. So far the rear wing pieces and small parts I did yesterday look great. I JUST painted the main body and front wing now and they're sitting under a large kitchen bowl (don't tell swmbo!) to keep any dust from settling on them. Preliminary results from the pieces yesterday look great but I will let everything sit till at least the weekend to make sure it's dry. My LHS owner gave me a new paint to try which is MM lacquer gloss black. Lacquer is different than the enamel as lacquer dries from the outside in so you get a smoother harder shell. So far it was definitely worth it!

If you're familiar with Tamiya spray paints they are lacquers as well so that's how this works. Honestly I had no idea it existed and it's not my new go to for metal finish undercoats.

Pics tonight or tomorrow when I feel it's dried enough.

Pretty darn happy with it. Alclad Aqua Gloss clear gives the chrome a nice shine and a realistic tint to it.

I've also been working on more of the suspension pieces. I've got the rear wheel hubs assembled painted and cf decaled. Have to do fronts still. I'm also going to rob a set of seat belts from my top studio mp4/13 set for it since there's no seatbelts included.
