  1. Thanks so much Curt. Not really interested in the XL as a purist aircraft design, just think it looks super cool - and isn't that what a hobby is all about - enjoyment! Cheers, Carl
  2. Hello, Is it possible to build the MP conv with the Tamiya CJ vs the tbird kit. Just wanting to build what might be a what-if current air-force plane. Thanks Carl
  3. Dear ARC's, What's the coolest looking bomb/missile load thats been seen on our beloved CF-188? I want to make my 1/32 CF 188 look like it's loaded for bear! Just need to know what ammo it should be packing! Also, what Sqn would have carried it and aircraft #? Just to be realistic and not some fantasy aircraft. Thanks, Carl
  4. Heh there, I just bought them last week for my mudhen, and they look fantastic - if not a little fidley to assemble. I'd give you my recommendation to buy em - price isn't an issue either from Squadron. I'd say that they are one of the better pieces to come out of verlinden recently. Hope this helps, Carl
  5. Dear ARC'ers, Do any of you guys have a spare one of these kits laying around that you would be willing to part with. I've posted this in buy and sell as well, just in case some of you read there as well. Thanks in advance, Carl
  6. Dear Guys, If you want the absolute best deal on the Has Lanc, put a preorder in with Dave at Hornet Hobbies(Toronto Phone Book) on O'Connor - East York. He has em for $49.95 Canadian, preorder price - blows everybody away. You'll save about $30 on average for the kit. All the best, Carl

  8. I've owned a Silentaire Silaire 20 for over 9 years, and it's still going strong! Quiet like you would not believe, consistent air supply. It only cycles when the small tank runs down below the psi you set the reg to. Just change the oil out every year if you use it lots, and make sure it's topped up to protect you investment. Like Paul Boyer said in FSM - silence is golden$$$. Iwata sprint jets are also an excellant choice as well if your budget isn't big for a sil. They make a model with an auto shut off. No tank, but comes with a reg/trap - and they are pretty quiet. HTH, Carl
  9. I've got both of the Tamiya brushes - HG and Superfine HG - both are outstanding and you won't go wrong with either. The Superfine can give give lines like drawing with a pencil - it was designed to do 1/72 camo schemes. They'll both handle any type of paint that you can throw at them - just thin like normal for all paint types. They feature for pullback is great - tamiya chose to add it on for free - talk about thinking for modellers! They clean up easy as well - all stainless - and disassemble easy for detailed cleaning. Hope this helps you out. Carl
  10. I'm having one hell of a time finding one of these adapters. Does anyone have a source or have one that they would sell. I already have a silent compressor for painting. I want to use this when I go out on the road and travel. All the best, Carl
  11. Want the ultimate in setting solution - Solvaset! This stuff is everybody's last resort when it comes to stubborn decals. I'm still working on the bottle I bought 3 years ago. Awesome stuff - model railroaders use it for decalling box cars and engines - think we have trouble with curves and panel lines, try doing a box car with all that stuff on the surface and you'll know why Solvaset works. Just be careful with it, it could melt more delicate decals - try some on a scrap decal on the sheet. Carl
  12. The filters are available at Dixie Art and Airbrush(do a web search) - just search for spraybooths - and you'll find replacement filters for the Artograph booth, my booth. They go in the airflow to trap paint fumes/particles - using a pre filter helps too as well as a mask if you are at all sensitive to paint fumes. Hope this helps. All the best, Carl
  13. You better be using an activated charcol filter - to get all the nasty fumes outta the airflow. I have a booth that uses this very same system - don't feel like lung surgery in the future. HTH Carl
  14. Dear Pete, Instead of buying Mr. Surfacer in the little bottles, buy a big can of it. It's a 3M product(name escapes me), Gunze just rebottles it and makes a huge profit for such a tiny amount. If you do a search over at www.modelwarships.com for gunze in their forum, you'll find the name. This was a big question over there, because I also build modern naval vessels(aircraft carriers of course) and guys were asking about it. All the best, Carl
  15. Here's one everybody seemed to miss! Hold and Fold photoetch bender. For all the crazy amounts of money that we spend on our photoetch sets. Cheers, Carl
