  1. Hey all, I've been doing a lot of searching on the Top Gun F-14's. I have an old Testors Top Gun 1/72 F-14 kit but I want to build Maverick's F-14 in 1/48. Does anyone have the decal sheet for it? or can I blow up my 1/72 markings? I've been digging around and found this thread here http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=94107&hl=goose&st=0 But the link is broken. I would be willing to pay for a 1/48 scale decal sheet. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
  2. I must say, I envy your Tomcat fleet. I was planning to do the same thing! Gotta love the Tomcats :) Very nice work!
  3. The detail you're working into this plane is AMAZING Definitely a huge inspiration to my future models that I'll be making of Tomcats. Keep up the work! I will definitely be watching this thread!
  4. That's what I planned on doing! I'm just getting the kits ahead of time, and setting them aside, you know? I have a lot of models I'm saving up for last, once I get very good at modeling, I will tackle these projects, and this is one of them. Same goes with the Tamiya 1/32 Black Knights Tomcat, the limited edition Hasegawa F-14B Jolly Rogers Limited Edition Tomcat, etc. I have them all saved up for later. That is why I'm trying to find the most detailed/accurate F-14A in 1/72 scale for the Top Gun one. Just before I make it, I'm going to make Iceman's plane with the included Testor's kit that
  5. Wow, this is amazing, I read this thread all the way through. As a novice modeler, I learned a lot just from reading on this. This is amazing! Keep it up, I can't wait to see it when it's finished!
  6. Yeah, as I stated before, I love Tomcats. They are my favorite jets, and at one point I had the hopes and dreams of becoming a naval aviator and flying one. But that was crushed when I found out the Tomcats were gonna be retired. I planned on buying several Tomcat kits and putting them together, I was actually gonna make a large desk or display section specifically for Tomcats. Would this kit work? Or is there a more detailed 1/72 kit? 1/72 F-14A Tomcat Early Version When I say experience, I mean getting better at intricate details, like weathering properly, applying decals right, learni
  7. I assume that's this? Thank you! I won't be building this till later when I'm experienced. I don't want to ruin it! I'm getting an Italeri MiG-29 and doing a custom dark red paint job. I saw a MiG-29 with that paint scheme, I can't remember where but I really liked it.
  8. Is there a specific Hasegawa 1/72 kit I should use? I'm aiming for the most accurate and detailed 1/72 F-14A kit I can find. I will use aftermarket parts to assist with the build too.
  9. Thanks for the feedback guys! Well I didn't plan to build this Tomcat till later down the road where I will have more experience, I just wanted to get a kit and stash it for later! Tomcats are my favorite and building the Top Gun one I wanted to be as close to perfect as I could possibly get it. Are there any specific kits you guys recommend?
  10. Hey guys, I'm new around here. I'm a pretty novice modeler, but I'm learning. I'm sure you guys have heard this question a thousand times, but what 1/72 model kit would be best (quality/accuracy) to redesign the F-14A Tomcat from Top Gun? I'm leaning towards a Tomcat by Hasegawa. Is there any aftermarket parts you guys would recommend? The decals won't be a problem, I managed to get my hands on an old Testors 1/72 F-14 Top Gun kit. I was hoping maybe I could resize them on the computer and make a 1/48 or 1/32 Tomcat. Also, what is the difference between the NACA gun vent and non-NACA gun vent
