  1. I have airbrushed a number of their colors and have had very good results. All acrylics. Thinned approx 50% with water and 15-20 psi. Finish is smooth and appears to be "hardy". I have masked over it and have had no problems with paint lifting. I second the comment about Linden Hill being a class company. Valuable advice has been given concerning colors, etc. In the words of a reviewer (which I'm not) .... "Definitely recommended".
  2. My question is about the doors between compartments in the B-17G's. All the kit parts that I've seen, as well as all the AM parts have what appear to be windows in the doors but they are molded as a solid piece. I have checked numerous pictures and some do appear to show a window, but most do not show enough detail. So, was there a "see through" window in the doors, were they painted over, or were they just solid pieces? Thanks for reading and for any responses. Charlie
  3. I understand the site underwent some upgrades and now I'm looking for a URL that actually opens the site in Firefox. The bookmark I've used for several years opens the main site, but when I click on the Launch button, the page never loads. I have opened it in IE, but Firefox is my personal choice. A Google search gives a URL with the same results. Respectfully and thanks in advance. Charlie
  4. I am finishing three Eduard MiG-21's... one each in Slovak, Egyptian, and Russian schemes. There are helmets in the Brassin sets.. but no mention of what color they could be painted. Any suggestions... and thank you in advance for reading/responding. Charlie L.
  5. If anyone has the Eduard 1/48 MiG-21MF and is not using or going to use the Slovak scheme: I would like to buy decal #44 (reads "MiG-21 MF Fishbed"). Last decal I as applying and it folded over on itself... the rest is history. Please advise if you have one, and thanks to all who took the time to read this. Regards, Charlie
  6. Thoughts and prayers for a quick and complete recovery! Regards, Charlie L
  7. I was able to pick up my first tins of Humbrol enamels the other day, but they had no thinner. I assume that lacquer thinner, turpenoid, Testors enamel thinner will all work? Enamels seem to be much easier than acrylics to thin! Regards, and thanks, Charlie L
  8. I ordered a FE 2b, EZ Line thread last Thursday, confirmed same day, shipment email received Friday. I expect delivery Monday based on past experience. Regards, Charlie
  9. I'm building the Revell B-17G with Eduard Interior PE. The rear interior has the commode (crapper!), but I cannot find any pictures that would tell me how to finish it. Olive Drab? Dark Gull Green? Natural metal? The lid..... same finish? White? Certainly not the most critical question that has been posed today, but one of the more fascinating! Regards, Charlie
  10. Does anyone have a Two Bobs Tiger Meet of the Americas, TMOTA-001 set for sale? Mine was done in by high water during a recent storm. Regards, Charlie
  11. Anyone know what yellow was used for the oxygen bottles... specifically on the B-17's? Many thanks in advance. Charlie
  12. Visit the Titan II Museum.... only remaining Titan II site.... complete....
  13. The ARC community has once again responded.... an exhaust is already in the mail! I appreciate the other offers that have been made, and look forward to helping others when I can... this is one fantastic group! Regards, Charlie
  14. Does anyone have an extra exhaust for the Tamiya 1/48 Block 30 F-16? They are equipped with the GE-F110 engine. I have finished the Arctic Aggressor and the last piece has gone missing.... after several days of searching I have given up finding it. I'm not sure how common the sprue numbers are between various Tamiya kits, but the part number from their Aggressor/Adversary kit is H3. I will pay reasonable price and handling/postage. Thanks in advance for reading and for any response. Regards, Charlie
  15. I'm getting ready to build the Revell B-17G as Little Miss Mischief. I "assume" that the interior of the fuselage was Interior Green for the older aft section and Aluminum for the newer forward section? Any information that is available for the colors of the flight decks (floors, consoles, etc) would also be appreciated. I thank everyone in advance for reading and replying/commenting. Regards, Charlie
  16. The Central Pennsylvania IPMS will sponsor PennConn 2011 on Saturday,Sept 17th in Mechanicsburg PA. Details can be found at http://www.cenpennipms.com/penncon/penncon.html
  17. The Great Models website is taking pre-orders for a 1/72 Revell USA Pro Modeler B-17G. I have not seen any information on this kit. The box art shown is for the same B-17G as the Revell Germany kit. Has anyone heard of this pending kit, and how the Pro Modeler version would differ from the Revell Germany kit? Thanks in advance to all! Regards, Charlie L
  18. I would be interested in a 1/32 sheet. Charlie L
  19. I saw the review of the Aires 1/32 Tamiya Cockpit set on today's homepage . I was wondering if anyone has actually tried to fit this into a Tamiya kit? I have tried a couple of Aires cockpits and they have not been the easiest to fit. It usually requires sanding the cockpit sidewalls to near paper thin, doing the same to the Aires pieces, etc. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their comments and opinions. Regards, Charlie L
  20. I've assembled the wingtips for my 1/32 Tamiya Zero. As many of you know there are two interchangeable sets.. one folded and one straight. I have not yet attached the transparent lens. There is a definite hole in the side of the opening for the lens. I don't know if this is to give the "impression" that there is a light there when the lens is attached (you can see the hole when I test fit the lens). Or would it be appropriate to insert a piece of sprue painted silver to simulate a light? Any thoughts are appreciated and I thank all of you in advance. Regards, Charlie
  21. I see many references to the MIG-21 MF early versus late cockpit interiors. I have not been able to find a specific reference that defines when the cockpits changed. I did see a document that said all the MIG-21 options in the Eduard kit were early cockpits. My current plans are to build two of the options in the kit, and the correct cockpit info would help. Any information you could shed on this would be appreciated and Thanks In Advance! Regards, Charlie

    Eduard Ar 196 PE

Eduard's full PE set (32681) for the 1/32 Revell Ar 196 includes two side panels that appear to fit over the front of the kit sides (38 and 39). This would effectively hide the detailed kit frames. I assume that most Ar's were built the way the kit is constructed. Does anyone know when and why full sides were installed? Thanks for responses in advance. Charlie
  23. I thought I read somewhere that Italeri had acquired another manufacturers molds for their 1/48 Spitfire Mk IXc. If so, does anyone know whose molds were the base of their newer kits? Thanks to all who read and respond. Charlie L
  24. Great build. Now to move mine from the shelf to the workbench! What green did you use for the intake and rudder panel? Thanks in advance.. Charlie
  25. FlightDecs is a one man operation... doesn't necessarily excuse the issues you're having... but may put them in perspective. I ordered from him three weeks ago and the decals arrived in the US within the week. Charlie
