  1. Just because you have a window there, doesn't mean you have to open it. Not all the windows get illuminated anyway, as they are in crew quarters and are not always occupied. That could save you some effort. I have a couple of these kits, the Monogram and Revell Germany kit. I plan to light one of them atleast. I picked up one of those strings of LED for Xmas I plan on using for much of it. It's a nice set up and runs off of 4 AA batteries..... Worth considering...
  2. Model Master Enamels Insignia White, Insignia Red and Insignia Blue I use the flat versions of both and then gloss lacquer clear coats...
  3. Just didn't want this to get lost with all the 2006 lists popping up...
  4. Nope, I am not retired, but I am unemployed right now if that makes you feel better..... I was laid off in August and have been looking ever since. I am hoping things will start looking up next year.....
  5. Growing up, this was always one of my favorite kits. It was one of the first with recessed panel lines from Revell, it had lots of armament and could be built as a fighter or demonstration model. Not to mention you have an engine, tractor and trailer to add to the mix. All in all a lot for a little money. Recently I found a stash of these on ebay for $10 each so I picked up 3 of them.... This is build straight from the box with only Microscale decals added to replace the curled yellow ones in the box. It only took me a couple of days to build and she was fun... Enjoy!

  9. Well I am probably one of the sickest guys around, but I was always amazed at the guys that could list off what they built through the year. So I tried something this year, I went back through my pictures and searched by date to come up with a list of kits I completed this year. Much to my surprise I came up with about 24 with one more I expect to finish before the end of the calendar year. Here is a list of those kits, in no particular order... Hasegawa 1/48 F-15E (Part of the Build Along) Accurate Minatures 1/48 SBD-5 The Alligator ( a scratch build for the ME109 WF Challenge)
  10. After about a week of playing with this I finally finished it. The kit was a pleasure to put together and the Eduard PE set really sets it off. Enjoy the pictures!!!
  11. Hey Philip thanks for responding to Mike. Mike I dont' really know if SSM is going to get more of those in or not. I picked mine up at Wonderfest last year and I was hoping to get another one from SSM store. I would suggest doing what I am going to do, send Linda at SSM store a PM telling her you are interested, if enough people tell them, they will likely get another batch. I would guess they would order 5-10 so if we get another few people....
  12. That is the set, they currently out of them on SSM, I wanted another one for the other kit I have... The kit was fantastic, the only comments I will add is they need to make one change to the directions, and hopefully that will be included in any new kits made. In the first step where they have you removing pieces from the kit, the tell you to remove the blacked out panels on the side of the fuselage. In the movie, these are windows, but the directions don't tell you what do with the openings after they are open, and no Clear parts are provided to fill the space. So you need to decide if y
  13. Well I finally got around to working on the Revell Germany ARC-170 kit I've had for awhile now. This is one of Revell Germany's easy kits, in other words pre-painted but this one I stripped, painted and used some aftermarket parts. Here is what I started with... Box Art - A little blurry sorry... Since the kit is rather plain, I picked up a cockpit and landing gear kit from Controled Energy Design, and since I will be painting the kit myself I would need decals so I picked up a sheet from JM Enterprises. The original kit lacks landing gear and the cockpits are really plain, but addin
  14. Another great one in progress! Can't wait to see more.
  15. JEN, Great Job! This has always been one of my favorite planes. I even went so far as to have the flying tiger tatooed on my left shoulder. Both my wife and I love it! This is such a great kit I had to pick up a couple, as a matter of fact I scored two at Hobby Lobby priced at $9.99 plus 30% off. The PE sets cost me more than the kits.... Great job!
  16. I hope they catch the guy that defaced your beautiful model with that spray can... Great job!
  17. Great Job! I don't think it looks over done on the weathering. Here's a link to my son's if you are interested... http://gallery.scalehobby.com/millenium-falcon
  18. I picked this little gem up at Wonderfest this year. You can get them through Federation Models. This is the Cobywan kit for those that are famliar with it... Anyways this is a fun little kit. I had a little clean up but the rest was painting, washing, dry brushing, decals and clear coats... Enjoy!
  19. I had picked this up on sale quite awhile ago and finally decided to do something with this. It is the Eduard 1/48th scale Bell X-1 ProfiPak. For those of you not familiar with Eduard kits, ProfiPak means that it comes with Resin and Photo Etch parts in addition to the kit. They sometimes come with different or extra decals too, like this kit did. This is a typical Eduard kit, the fit is pretty good but no locators on fuselage halves and the wheel wells are kinda boring. The cockpit is well done and you do get to see a fair amount of it through the windshield. I had trouble with the colo
  20. Great job Pix, as always! I just picked up the "Weekend" version of this kit at the LHS. After seeing yours I'll have to get the PE set for it. Thanks for sharing and great job!
  21. Great looking bird! I especially liked the spilled oil or fuel on the drop tank. I also give you credit for putting the antennas on. I was always afraid to do ones like this since I didn't know if they had tensioners in them to keep them tight while the canopies were open. Great Job!
  22. This was a quick kit. I started it on Friday and finished it today. I even got some work done on it Sunday. This is the Hasegawa 1/48th scale Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIB. I added the Eduard PE set and she turned out pretty nice considering she did a nose dive as I was adding the final touches.... Enjoy! Also look for the tip at the end... For those of you that like British planes but hate the camo because of the hard lines, here is an easy tip for those with a scanner and printer on your computer. First scan in a copy of the aircraft profiles from the instructions which give
  23. Nice work as always Pix! Is this one for you or a commission?
