Richard E
One of the pictures in today's post is of what looks like an E2C Hawkeye without its radome. Is this a WIFFER or is it based on an actual aircraft and, if so, what is it's purpose: I'm thinking it's either a trainer or something more exotic like an ELINT bird? Andre
One of the pictures in today's post is of what looks like an E2C Hawkeye without its radome. I don't know the pic, but this sounds like the Grummen C-2 Greyhound, a COD adaptation of the E-2. HTH, Andre
EF
This is the pic: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal6...Beauvais/06.jpg and it certainly is a E-2C airframe not a C-2.

It also looks like it has US Navy tailcodes and modexes on the tails and wing..? Never seen those on Israeli birds. Weird..! Cheers, Andre
CraigSargent
It's a card model and definitely an E-2C, but it's certainly not representative of any 1:1 aircraft markings. Looks like the builder mixed and matched 2 kits and forgot the radome.

iaf-man
Andre, It is indeed a weird Israeli mod-an Israeli modeller's mod! If I remember correctly,it was an unfinished card model. If you need a weird mod, how's that?(or you have seen it already?)
Andre
Thanks for the pic! I still have a Heller Hawkeye in the stash that I will finish in IDF markings... once I get any modeling done, that is... Cheers, Andre

Spongebob
The refueling probe will be a reality in the US... as soon as they figure out how to keep the dome from getting fried by the Super Hornet's exhaust plume. Also, it is legal to fly an E-2 without the dome. Interesting model... Spongebob Edited February 27, 2007 by Spongebob
