Grant in West Oz
Yeah, I know, but it did come out on a Monogram box, later. 1/24 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350-R 1/77 Ford AT4 Trimotor 1/48 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat and possibly the Pfalz. G
Spaced Marine
Yeah, I know, but it did come out on a Monogram box, later. 1/24 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350-R 1/77 Ford AT4 Trimotor 1/48 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat and possibly the Pfalz. G Since Monogram did reissue it, I guess that'd be like splitting hairs. Unless Mike objects, I have no qualms with it.
madmike
Not a problem as Monogram did re-issue it. MikeJ
Grant in West Oz
Thanks guys. Now for lozenge decals! Scary looking dudes in the box. G Edited May 2, 2007 by Grant in West Oz
Brews
The dudes aren't as scary as the fuselage and wings!
Grant in West Oz
The dudes aren't as scary as the fuselage and wings! The engraved markings make it difficult to do anything other than the kit version, I agree. :) We'll see. G
modelhound
I don't want to strart trouble here, but, I've never seen the Pfalz in a Monogram box, at least here in the States. The SE-5, Camel and Fokker DVII yes, but none of the other Auirora WW-1 planes. I would love to be shown wrong in this. Please someone enlighten me. madmike
It has been agreed to as there was acknowledgment that it was an Aurora kit reboxed by Monogram. Edited May 28, 2007 by madmike
DarylH
It will look a bit strange with those AMG wheels on it! A true "collectors" kit there Grant. I love to see those actually get built.......
modelhound
It has been agreed to as there was acknowledgment that it was an Aurora kit reboxed by Monogram. Just because two people agree to something doesn't necessarily make it true. Mike
madmike
Just because two people agree to something doesn't necessarily make it true.Mike Where in my above post was it stated that only two people agreed to this kit being appropriate? Both Spaced Marine and myself are moderators of the Group build, thus we do have the final say in what is approved and what is not as this is part of what moderation entails. I really, truly, do not want this to be an issue, why are you making it one?

I really, truly, do not want this to be an issue, why are you making it one? Because I do not like to see what is "true" as defined by consensus. If you want to decree that this is a 'Monogram Classics, and Whatever Else We Approve, Group Build" then so be it. But if it is in fact a Monogram Classics Group Build, then I say that if a challenge to the claim of eligability is forthcoming, let the matter be resolved by evidence, not opinion. As a lifelong aeromodeler, kit collector and builder, maker of lists and amateur model historian, I can not recall ever having seen the Aurora Pfalz kit in Monogram livery. Either in person, in a picture, in print, in short, anywhere. All I asked for was some evidence of this model released as a Monogram kit. As I said, I would like to be shown my thinking is in error. The Kit Collectors Value Guide For Scale Model Plastic Kits, by John Burns, devotes six complete pages to the Monogram Airplane model kits, complete with their history. The only airplane kits listed as having come from the Aurora molds are: Fokker D.VII Sopwith Camel SE-5A Boeing 747 Douglas DC-10 Boeing 727 Boeing 737 LTV A-7A Corsair II General Dynamics F-111A Please note no mention of the Pfalz, Ford Trimotor or Hellcat. The 350GT is listed as from Aurora. The Windsock Datafile on the Pfalz D.IIIa, lists all the Pfalz kits ever released, Ray Rimmel states that the Pfalz kit was released by Aurora and later K&B. No mention of Monogram. WW-1 in Plastic, by Stephen Lawson also fails to list the Pfalz as a Monogram Kit. I have not had the chance to read the new history of Monogram kits book recently published. I have had my say and will stop posting on this matter except to apologise when I am shown wrong in my thinking. Mike the modelhound in Bellingham, WA

Mike the modelhound in Bellingham, WA So thus, this is an issue for you as evident by your strong words and long reply post. You seem to consider that a fun gatherer's of modellers engaged in building kits under a common theme is a meeting conducted by a court of law by what you did post which will NEVER be the premise of any of the group builds I moderate. I believe that GB's are here for fun and enjoyment. Life is too short for what I consider petty bickering about a decision. Well some decisions are made that you may not like and you have thus voiced your opinion, negative as it is. I do not possess such a book in my library and this entry was discussed by myself and Spaced Marine, another moderator for this group build. I am am also sorry you believe our decision is flawed. How about you PM Grant and tell him that he was wrong that his entry was not reboxed by Monogram? Michael
Brews
How about you PM Grant and tell him that he was wrong that his entry was not reboxed by Monogram? Can we agree that it is a Monogram "What-If" - as in, Monogram might have re-boxed it if they'd bothered.
