Pruz
Hi everyone, i wonder if anyone could help me with the differences between a production Su-27 Flanker-B and the Su-35... I have gathered that it has canards, larger tailfins and a streamlined radome. Any other glaring physical differences between the basic Flanker and the Su-35? I ask because I am toying with the idea of adapting the Trumpeter 1/32 kit into a later model. Also - was the Su-35 ever put into full-scale production or was it just a technology demonstrator? Any decent weblinks to some pictures, or has anyone got any to post? Many thanks, Al
Berkut
Cockpit is different to. Nozzles is TV. No, it was never been put in production.
MiG31
Off the top of my head: -slightly bigger nose and reprofiled radome -IRST moved starboard and added IFR probe to port -beefed LERX/canards added -two extra underwing hardpoints -two-wheel nose gear -UB-style tailfins with square tips -tailboom slightly enlarged There are other differences, but those are the most obvious I think. You might benefit from waiting until the Trumpeter Su-30MKK kit comes out, and use its tailfins since they match the Su-35 fins.

Berkut
Yeah, and where is Su-24 in 1/48 and Su-27 in 1/72....Trumpeter=****.
MiG31
At least we've seen a prototype of the Su-30MKK kit; no such luck on the 72nd Flanker of theirs. Minor nitpick from an above post: of the Su-35 series, only the Su-37 variant had thrust-vectoring nozzles. The other Su-35s didn't possess the system, although 710 had them for a short period. Flankerman
Guys, guys....... I've done all this work explaining the differences..... :D http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/flanke...7_variants.html As for modelling the Su-35 (actually the Su-37) ...... http://66.226.87.135/flankers.htm Don't forget, there is a new Su-35 that has nothing whatsoever to do with the old Su-35 - of which there were 12 prototypes (bort numbers 701 to 712) and 3 'production' machines (borts 86, 87 & 88). Only bort 711 was fitted with TVC nozzles - and was re-designated as a Su-37. It later had the TVC nozzles & software removed and reverted to being a Su-35 - just before it crashed. MiG31 has covered all the differences needed to make an 'old' Su-35 - and they are quite substantial !!! The fin is not only bigger and square tipped - it is also 'wet' - it contains an integral fuel tank. Good luck with your build Pruz - you will need it :D Ken
