Aggressor Supporter
Been quite a while on this build. Good to see it is still alive.
supergru
I forgot to update this thread: I picked MM Flanker Blue Gray (2131)... Actually I needed any paint to have a unified basic coat prior white ... I don't need to tell that this paint has nothing to to with any Flanker blue grey color... MattC
That is an outstanding stage to get to given the headaches this kit has given you, if it were mine, it would have been thrown at a wall long ago, I applaud your determination and your skill in fighting this and winning. Finishing post looks like it may be in sight now, look forward to seeing it and hope your other issues get resolved. Cheers Matt
supergru
In the meantime I fixed port root side of vertical tail, where I sanded too much, so I lost the raised cover of vertical tail torsion box.. And on last Sunday I managed to paint some Flat White (MM1768) .. I had severe problems with paint - I used nitro to thin it, but with bad luck, it just didn't mix right and all I got was splatters of paint...The brush crown was full of paint every few minutes and I needed to clean the airbrush twice, completely ... supergru
On Thursday I brushed another layer.. This time I took oil thinner, which mixed better with paint, but still had problems with accumulating paint in the crown ... Some fine sanding will be needed (2000 grid) but I think this is it... supergru
Digging this one back from page 18, after three months... Since my F-106 Delta Dart is in finish line, you can expect frequent updates on this one. These are pics from today: second set of wheels were painted, but still need to be repaired (maybe even need to strip the paint). And, fuselage is masked for greys on the wings and horizontal tail... This masking goes on and on, as you can see, still need to mask tailplane.
supergru
Painting tires & rims is a big headache in 1/144... I'mjust painting-stripping paint-painting... I tried masking rims, hand brushingrims, enamels, acrylics,... There's just no end to this ... Any ideas? At least I got some MM1728 on the upper wings andtailplane... Here's first coat on the starboard side, while Revell 371 is stillon the port side ... After that I removed all masking tapes and fixed someareas,... There's was also significant amount of glue residue from masking tape... So, this is it... Just before I started coating with Future...

erik_g
I am really impressed by your perseverance with this project. I´d have given up a long time ago. Good luck with the rest. Looking forward to seeing this beast marked up and finished. /E
supergru
Last week I coated A310 with 4 layers of Future (2 full wet coats in 5 min. distance and then repeated after 2 days of drying)... Yes, it's getting shiny... To be continued in a sec...
supergru
Rims painted with MM4765 Light Gray (acrylic) and masked again... Hopefully for the last time Here you can see tires with MM1749 Flat black (enamel) on the left and same ones on the right, but sanded with glass fibre pen... Looks quite convincing ... supergru
Today, I was masking for about 10 hours (+3h from yesterday) for metallic paints. I hate overspray, especially with metallic paints over black or white ... First, brakes got MM1402 Stainless steel metalizer ... Then the rest ... Same metalizer was brushed on APU exhaust, taiplane actuator covers, cold bypass, and engine pylon's leading and trailing edges MM1415 Burnt metal (metalizer) was brushed on engine hot zone... Revell 99 Aluminium (enamel) was brushed on leading edges of taliplane and wings ...
supergru
For those of you who wonder how did I managed to separate paints, while they were still wet... I took a piece of cardboard ...
supergru
Started decaling two days ago and took port fuselage logo as first. Wanted to remove excess carrier film with a blade, but it was so thin, that decal paint peel off near the edge. Next thing was that I wanted to place whole decal at once - this ended in tearing it apart and eventually ordering new sheet from Two Six. Today I continued with starboard side, but this time cut in several pieces ... This is the best I could get without Micro SOL... To me it's not just my lack of experience, but the carrier film, too. It acts like plastic, rather than foil... Check letter "T" - perfect, "A" so-so and "P" - better not look... Next was starboard tail ... Looks a bit strange ... Port side ... Bug zone ... supergru
From far it looks almost done ... But taken from near, and after several coats of Micro SOL it still haswrinkles... Any idea? Port side ... Bug zone still to be corrected ...
baranismen
Great build. Is there any chance you to keep the oob canopy of A310? I'm in search for one.
