mlicari
Hi Everyone, I'm actually doing this for the B-17 Group Build, but given it's a Navy plane, I thought people would want to follow along here too... Cutting out the staggered waist window. So many little holes... And done! Building the front office and nose positions... ;) Mike

jose miguel
Mlicari, Another one? How are you doing this? I don´t know this version, I will follow your progress José Miguel
mlicari
Thanks guys! Jose, I usually have 3 or 4 builds going at once...keeps my interest and motivation up since it makes it so I don't feel like I've bogged down on one kit. Also, I find that I'll reach stages when things need to set/dry/cure, so that way I have something to do while waiting! :D Mike

mlicari
Ok, finally an update! As you can see, I'm just doing the bare essentials in the interior...this will be build gear-up and hung from the ceiling, so no point in going nuts. The Paragon conversion set isn't designed to be "drop in". Here, the top turret mound had to be cut and sanded down so that just the ring is left for the plug to be attached to. The ball turret plug does fit in nicely. The chin turret plug is a challenge. It requires you to fit the ring as well as the gun housing itself (cut so that there's about a fourth of it left). The plug fits in the housing, and then everything has to be filled and sanded. You can see that on the last picture. Finally, the radome fairing has to be ground out and sanded so that it conforms to the curves on the bottom of the fueselage. This is very difficult (and you can see I still had to do some filling). mlicari
I sort of forgot I had this thread open for this build here! I did finish the PB-1W for the B-17 group build...here it is! I scrounged the decals, as there don't seem to be any aftermarket sheets for the PB-1W. Fairly easy to find the right decals, as the markings are fairly generic and there are some good photos for reference out there. Hope you like it! Mike
