SouthViper
Is the Hasegawa Ki-61 comparable to the Arii-Otaki Ki-61 ? Regarding scale accuracy and surface detailing ? Thanks SouthViper
Netz
I did a quick search and found THIS build of the Otaki kit, and you can find the kit and instructions of the Hasegawa version at Hobby Search. I'd imagine the Hasegawa kit would have the finer detail, as far as which one is more accurate, you need to do some research. Curt
Paolo Maglio
no, Otaki kit is very old with swallow landing gear bays, a very bad and short canopy and very simple legs and cockpit. It was a very good model when it was produced in the early '80s but it is no match for current hasegawa offering.
DonSS3
Not a very good photo of the Otaki kit, but the only one I've got. Typical Otaki for the period very nicely (if over-) done rivet detail, shallow cockpit and LG bays, fiddly fit in areas (especially the upper cowl piece and radiator bath). The clarity of the canopy wasn't real hot either, but it could be built up into a nice kit.
