Neo
Hi guy’s Welcome to The Escort Service GB where it’s all about the fighters covering your 6 o’clock The general idea here is to build any planes from WWII to modern day that served at any point in the escort business of any nation. Chase planes (i.e used for following evaluation flights ect) will not be included in the GB. This means Air to Air load out ONLY, drop tanks are optional Examples of valid builds would be: P-51 mustang that escorted B-17’s Me109 that escorted bombers going to England F-16 that escort Air force one F-4 and F-8 that provided cover for others in Vietnam Cobra and UH1 gunships Etc -Unfortunately there will be no What-ifs -A WIP (work in progress) thread in mandatory -The build cannot be more than 25% complete by the start of the GB -You may use as much After Market and scratch building as you want to make our jaw’s drop in amazement! -You may also build as many kits as you like in the time limit -Please post what you will be building in the Official Entry form tread We will have a raffle on donations bases and some generous sponsors have pitch in (See Raffle tread) We are live Jan 1st 2012 until June 30th and your host would be me(Neo) and Blunce Time to reach out and start building. Gentlemen to your workbench! Cheers Neo Here are the official GB Banners http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/221/banner4t.jpg And a new more stylish one http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/9706/banner5small.jpg Edited January 21, 2012 by Neo added new sponsor to banner
blunce
What about aircraft that are escorting foreign aircraft in peace time. For example the multitude of US aircraft we've all seen the pictures of that are escorting Russian Bear's in the North Pacific?

Aaronw
So on the helicopter gunships is there any further proof requirement, or are they like many WW2 fighters where it is just accepted escort duties is a part of their job? Also I assume A2G ordnance is acceptable on an attack helo since they are mostly defending the transport helos from ground threats. marvin20
Neo et al., I need some clarification on what A/C can be built to qualify for this GB. I'm looking at doing a Bf110, I know that the BF110C was used to escort German bombers during the Battle of Britain, however I don't have a C-model, I do however have a D and an E model of the Bf110. Can either one of these be built and qualify for the Escort GB? Thankls in Advance for your help, QT
Neo
HI Marvin after a little reading, i guess we could allow the "D" as it flew in BoB and the main difference with the "C" is that it has more range. Also playing Combat Flight Simulator 3 I got shot down by some of those when i was attacking a bomber formation (dang tail gun). You could always build a "D" with C markings has its the same plane Start up your WIP lets see it Cheers Neo

Hi Aaronw Well actually WWII fighters need to be from a squadron that actually did have escort duties assign to them ! As for choppers its going to be harder but normally in Vietnam the gunships squadrons must have done escort duties. If you can find the info its better but if not we shall let it fly and assume they where escorting Hueys. As for Air to Ground on those birds i guess your right and you found a loop hole in the rules!! But the main thing is still to have fun ! Enjoy the GB you have a green light
