deadmeat
Hey all....I was wondering if anyone knew if the Aires engine for the Academy Mig-29 fit the new Great Wall kit at all? I am in the middle of the build and so far it is the only disappointing area on the kit (this baby is building up beautifully otherwise). THANKS!!!!

Hi Deadmeat I have the AIRES kit , and I hold it for my left over Academy kits , as they don't bring so much to the GWH. Actually GWH is nearly as if not as nice as the Aires Kit . Just my 2 cents. P.S. I don't think you should have any trouble fitting it to the GWH Kit, anyway. Madcop
longmc
I was also wondering about the eduard engines. I have both sets and will test fit them when I get to that place in my GWH build (currently doing a GAF 9-12). cheers, Mike
deadmeat
Much appreciated! Thanks!
dehowie
The Aires set really adds nothing to a beautiful set of exhausts which fit wihout issue. Cant see the point of adding resin to replace a stellar component. Effort vs gain equals zero..

Cant see the point of adding resin to replace a stellar component. Effort vs gain equals zero.. The detail on the kit engines are nice, yes, but the problem is the way they go together. Cleaning up the seams it is hard to not obliterate some of the detail. I have replaced the interior detail with styrene strips but if the Aires cans fit with little fuss then why not. ya-gabor
Yes, you need to clean up the joint lines on the plastic parts and the interior is not as nice as either the Aires or the Eduards Brassin set but there is an alternative. Eduard has released a photoetch set which includes some interior details for the GWH nozzles. Here it is in a dry fit to the GWH plastic Best regards Gabor
deadmeat
I did a test fit today and long story short....fits like a glove.
