flybywire
Hi everyone! Just want a little confirmation from the experts if the inside nozzle color of this jet is really Humbrol 103 cream (read from a few articles) or any cream for that matter, or this is already an old school? Please advise. Thanks in advance! Edited October 30, 2016 by flybywire
Sebastijan
AL-31 of basic Su-27s exhaust interior colour is burned metal. Later variants like AL-41 (Su-35S, PAK-FA), AL-31FP TVC versions (TVC equipped Su-30s) have ceramic coated insides of the exhausts giving them whitish creamy colour. flybywire
Sorry guys typo error, it should have been intake trunking color. Sorry again for the confusion. Edited October 30, 2016 by flybywire
Sebastijan
I usually use light gull gray for the intakes. They are light grey and deffo not cream.
Flankerman
I use medium grey - nothing specific, just a contrast to the outside colour. I also then mask off those grey areas - before assembling the intakes as its almost impossible to do afterwards...... After the full build and painting the final lower colours, I can then - just - remove the Tamiya masking tape with tweezers. I haven't found a better way of doing them. Here's what the real thing looks like...... The inside colour can vary from light to medium grey depending on the outer colour scheme. Ken
beingthehero
Does the intake color depend on the variant as well, i.e. Su-30SM vs J-11 vs. Su-27SM?
Flankerman
It probably varies with where it is built - Irkutsk, K-on-Amur or China. A check of photos shows variations - but difficult to say exactly what colour from where. Ken
