NButtifant
Hi Folks, Just wondering if any of you have had experience of using " Experts Choice " decals , I have 2 sheets of decals and Im having a total nightmare with them, as soon as the get damp the decal starts to disintegrate. Any Advice Would Be Most Welcome. Thanks All.
phantom
Experts choice if I remember correctly would be rather old decals. They need a coat of Micro decal stuff. Not the stuff to get the marking to form to the model but the film that coats the entire sheet.
Tank
Micro Liquid decal film is what Phantom mentioned. 👍 https://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=03bdf9be23f60219ee7584485c73b860&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MD&Product_Code=MI-12&Category_Code=FINPROD

Not this particular sheet, but yes, I've had this happen to older decals. As Phantom and Tank suggest, use a decal film coat to re-establish the carrier film. They'll be very fragile even with the new coat but they'll at least be usable.
Drifterdon
One other thing I've done with old decals is to cut away as much of the clear carrier away then give if a light spray with clear gloss laquer paint. As soon as it is dry to the touch, I soak it in water and carefully apply it to the model. The clear gloss holds the decal together long enough to transfer it to the model. If the decal is really dried out, I'll give it a second shot of clear gloss. If you let the clear dry too long, it gets brittle and simply cracks again. I've used this successfully on old kit decals, Microscale/Superscale decals and even on Experts Choice.
