Ukraine MiG-29 Pylons and Weapons?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am beginning my build of the 1/48 GWH MiG-29 9-13, and I plan to paint it in the Ukraine digital camo with various grey tones.  From what  I've been able to gather, Ukraine does not have the 9-13 variant, but  the GWH plane is the best MiG-29 in 1/48, so I'm limited to  that variant (though I also have a GWH MiG-29SMT, which I understand Ukraine also does not have).   Any thoughts on what I'd need to do to the 9-13 to make it as close to a Ukraine MiG used in the current  conflict?

Also, I've read that  the Ukraine MiG-29s have used a variety of, or modified, weapon pylons that can carry both Russian (R-27 Vympel) and western (US HARM missiles) weaponry.  Any ideas on what, if any, pylons I can/should use, if different from the GWH kit pylons, and any other weapons Ukraine has used on their MiG-29s?

Thanks, gents.  I'd definitely read elsewhere that the Ukraine variants did not include the 9-13.  I guess there are lots of sources out there, not all correct.

There's two different pylon systems for carrying Western weapons. This is a good look at the pylon designed for bombs - it has been used for JDAM and the French AASM:

The one for carrying the HARM is a two part affair that doesn't have that antenna probe sticking out. This article has a good picture of this kind close to the end:
