Drifterdon
I've seen pics where it appears the SUU-11 minigun pod is being carried on one of the outer pylons of the A-1 Skyraider. I tried to do a search of the interweb to see if there was anything that pointed out it's use on anything other than one of the main stub pylons next to the wheels but couldn't find anything. Anyone have definitive proof that they were carried on these outer pylons or am I mistaking these for the smaller 7-shot rocket pod?
junkman3353
Completely "spit-balling" here but I would speculate that it was hung on that pylon for accuracy reasons-less of an offset from the gun sight. Additionally, I've only seen it mounted on the left wing main pylon. Maybe that was the only one that was wired for the SUU-11.
Finn
From a 1966 manual: later it got added to the stub pylons. Jari
Drifterdon
Thanks Jari. This pretty much shows them on some of the outboard pylons.
