Ch-47D seats

Hello LB117

Maybe

you need 3 rods, one on the top, on on the front, one on the aft of each seat

Cut them to dimension

take light red paper, cut them in the shape : 2 pieces, one for the seat, one for behind

or better print them on paper : one face printed in full red

the other face just the seat shape printed red, so you can cut it very easily and reproduce the shape X time.

when you draw the shape, for the back, take it a litle longer, as you will bent the bottom and glue it on the seat piece, back, like on the picture (you see, the bottom of the L doesn't go to the back of the seat but a little forward.

When you draw the seat itself, draw the front and the back longer. what is too long should ga around the rods and be glued just around the rod.

After that, you have to make these bended rods you see on the sides. glue them between the front and back rod

when you are at it, take the same technic for the seat belts : oen side in belt colour, the details on the other side X time, and cut them

for the seat fabric fixing on the top rod, draw to the same time the metal part you see on the top, but not at the end of the belt, but something like 1/3, so you will band the belt just over this place, glue it together and let a part of the belt lose.

The other belt side will be glued to the back of theseat seat

on the seat belts, you can also draw the buckles on one side

Then make the legs

well, thats what I done with my Super-frelon, only I had not to build the frame

Hope you understand it, I can send some pics if you need

If anyone will make a MH conversion it would be Cobra Co. They just released the A model detail set, I would guess the D model update would be next then maybe the MH conversion, but no official word yet.

Just for giggles, did anyone notice the "p*ss tube" in the lower R/H corner of the the first pic?

http://www.pbase.com/aztomas/image/8651455

Its the black funnel with surgical tubing snaked down through the ramp actuator hole. Havent seen that in a while. You could put that in after you do the seats :D

Hello LB

here some pics for an idea how to made this kind of seats :

seatback are printed : one side with shape

Siege1.jpg

one side with plain colour

siege2.jpg

here the seat itself is cut to dimension

Siege3.jpg

here the printed belt who holds the seatback

siege4.jpg

here the seat belts, oposite side is plain blue with black strips at the right place

siege5.jpg

so to beginn with something, cut the backseats

siege7.jpg

and I decided not to use the belts at the top, so I cut them out

siege8.jpg

then I cut the new belts

siege9.jpg

and bent them just over the holding piece which is printed at about 1/3

Belts are glued on the back of the backseat

siege11.jpg

then I glued tpgether the place where the holding pieces are printed

siege12.jpg

then I bend the holding pieces so that they match with the holding rod

siege13.jpg

and at the end, the seatback is bent in L

siege14.jpg

glue one rod to the seat part

siege15.jpg

check you still see the rod from the top

siege16.jpg

Cut excess part so you just turn around the rod (and do not cut to much as I do here)

siege17.jpg

glue the paper around the rod

siege18.jpg

try not to put too much glue

siege19.jpg

make the same with an other rod at the oposite side

then glue the backseat on it

First off, that's an excellent piece of scratch building. Thanks for sharing that.

Secondly, how did you make all those buckles, are they PE.

Thirdly, please tell me they aren't 1/72 scale.(they look 1/48, but just to confirm).

thanks, Rich

Norbert how did you print the material for the seats?thanx.

LB

Hello LB

Its printed here with an old HP deskjet in photoquality on normal paper

Its a little work before to make the image, you have to use a software like photoshop, micrographX, corel draw or others. they are sometime given with printers or digital cameras.

Then you need a minimum of references. for this you can make special google serch like "seat chinook"

and "seat CH-47" and all you can imagine, and search also after all kind of walkaround

from the pictures, you will take the details like here

seatbelt

sangle1.jpg

buckle

boucle1.jpg

sangle.jpg

copy ans paste and work out all these pics so they look like if you were realy just in fron of them

sangle2.jpg

never forget you must have the same colour in the back of the paper

Then you must scale the picture to the correct size according to what you want to build

I usualy do this with MS Word

Happy crazy modeling

Norbert

 It's 1/144 !

No I'm kidding, it's my current build here, 1/35

In progress pics

in 1/35 it's realy OK

in 1/48, its small but it work (simplify with the scale, stop cafe and beer)

in 1/72 I never try. I thing the thinest printpaper will be too thick, use some very thin paper you can find in graphic art shops + fixe it on normal paper. well crazy, take a rectangular piece of paper in the right colour, bend the two sides to give the illusion of the seat bars...of buy a set of photoetched seatbelts

PS How long and how many marriages did this thing take to finish?
