Keith Diamond
Testors (Italeri rebox) 1/72 F-16 The kit was fighting me towards the end, but its finished. Not as good as I had hoped, but still happy to have it on my shelf. The kit gave the option of building a A or B model, but I decided on the latter since I know two seaters will not be as common among my future builds. Decals are homemade, AGM-65s and AIM-9Js are from the Hasegawa weapons set. Drop tanks were kindly provided by Fellanoid (much appreciated!!!). The kit was given a Pro Modeller wash as well. The base was made from plastic sheet and a wood base from Hobby Lobby. You can't see it, but self adhesive felt was added to the underside. The plastic sheet was painted with Rustoleum texture paint, scribed, painted with Testors Canadian Voodoo Gray and then given a Pro Modeller wash. The wood base was stained with Min Wax and then given a poly urethane coating. Last but not least, inspiration for the build provided by Trigger's concept from the Whif thread Link Enjoy

Fuji
Thats very good! Trigger did those profiles at my request, a concept and project I was working on for a 1/48 scale build. My scheme is a different one and will be a bit different in the markings along with a back story. Glad Trigger and mine's collaboration inspired others. Now if only I can get out of my rut! Bill
Oh how cool. Castro is buying Vipers. Or trading Vipers for cigars
aircommando130
Cool "what if" F-16!! Could probably happen the way things are going. I had thought of doing a similar "what if" F-16A in VNAF markings using markings from an A-1 Skyraider sheet and South East Asia paint. :)

Actually gents, since I was the art director driving the concept, its not that Castro (Fidel or Raul) bought F-16s, but what if Castro never took over. That is why the F-16s have the FAEC, Fuerza Aérea del Ejército de Cuba, markings, not the current style FAR, Fuerza Aérea Revolucionaria. The tail markings have always been the same but the roundels have changed many times over history. FAEC Roundel FAR Roundel As for "Could probably happen the way things are going" - not sure what you're thinking or what you're reading, but I think it would be more likely for them to "buy" J-7s or JF-17s as Raul is a die hard Maoist and actually hates the US more than Fidel ever did. He may be willing to embrace a bit of Communist Capitalism like China has in the form of opening up to US companies and tourism, but he won't buy anything militarily from us ever. There would have to be a serious regime change if we're ever to see US hardware in Cuban markings again. Edited September 22, 2009 by Fuji

You gotta get on it man! Trigger said you started yours well before mine, and mine was a pretty slow build! I like the scheme he said you chose, so I look forward to seeing it finished. As Fuji explained, this concept is of a F-16 procured by a non communist Cuba. Also, if you check the airframe # 78-0374, you'll find that Israel wasn't the only country to accept part of the cancelled Iranian F-16 order.
