F-16
I am planning on building a Spanish Mirage F1M from the 1/48 Italeri/ESCI kit. I purchased the Pavla cockpit set, but the resin seat does not look like the pics in the link below: Mirage F1M C14 What seat is in the F1M C14? I can't seem to find a resin seat that looks like the pics in the link above. The Wolfpack Martin Baker Mk 4 looks to be closest to what I need? I am also thinking that I got the wrong cockpit set. The instrument panel also looks wrong for the F1M C14. Should I have gotten the NeOmega cockpit instead? NeOmega cockpit Pavla cockpit Thanks for the help. Julien (UK)
The F1 was in serivce for a long time, so the seats probably got updated in appearance even if it was the same MK4 underneath. The pics on prime portal seem to show a seat with new parts on it, there is no wear marks at all on the black parts they look brand new. Ejection Seat color has some pics of a F1 seat for Spain which look like they come from the AF museum and they look like the wolkpack pics you posted, maybe an older seat? Same could be said of the cockpit set. The prime portal pics show a large multi function display, that does not look very old, could the pavla set be for an older aircraft?? The Spanish Aircraft went through updates between 1997 & 2001. I also found out that they purchased 10 additional single seaters from Qatar and 5 hand me downs from France, again could be differences there? martinBK
The seat shown on Prime Portal is a MB JM-6 ejection seat. You can find it by High Planes models. Wolfpack seats are for Mirage III and 5 (it's written on the picture). Older spanish Mirage F-1 were fitted with F1RM-4 ejection seat (it must be Paval's seat). F-16
Ok. I went to High Planes models, but did not find the MB JM-6 listed. Lots of other MB seats but not that one? I'm guessing that the F1M could have many different seats in them. I guess I could stay with the Pavla seat and just wing it. Now, about the instrument panel. I know that the plane I am doing ("Ocean tiger", 14-09, 2008 tiger meet) does not have the "hood/shroud visor" on the right side of the IP. So I was thinking of removing it from the Pavla cockpit and adding some dial details in it's place. It's better than putting out more money for the NeOmega cockpit. pigsty
The NeOmega set contains a Mk.4 seat and a Mk.10. Given the timing of the F1M conversion, I'd be very surprised if it included a Mk.6 seat - a Mk.10 is much more likely. I'll be using the Mk.4 to build an early Mirage F1EE so the Mk.10 will be going spare. PM me if you'd like it, though you'd have to pay for postage to the USA. That set has an old-fashioned steam-powered instrument panel too, so I doubt it would be suitable for the F1M conversion. Though I'm no expert. In any case, I'm afraid I need it! martinBK
Neomega MK4 is actually a MK6 (surely NOT a MK4 !!)...you can use it for your Spanish Mirage (also Lybian, or Greeck)
F-16
Actually, looking at the NeOmega seat page: NeOmega seat page It looks like the Mk IV "late" looks to be the "closest" to the seat in the PP link? I'm not sure if I am on the right track, but getting warmer... Scott CNJC-IPMS
martinBK
There is NO MK4 in a Mirage with a hard parachute container.
