  1. Hey, stop posting pictures of real plane captains and show us the one you made. Great job, you nailed it perfectly. :P Reddog :P
  2. Rex, Here are the decal sheets I use for blue Navy aircraft, they haven't failed me so far. Microscale sheet 72-20, USN & USMC wording, white and black Microscale sheet 72-1044, USAF white 18" tail codes and numbers. This sheet can be used for USN/USMC blue aircrraft also Microscale sheet 72-26, US I.D. Letters & Numbers, Various Sizes, WHITE Microscale sheet 72-214, USAF & USN 60 deg 24" & 36" letters and numbers Microscale sheet 72-229, US 60 deg (Navy) letters numbers, 6, 12, 18, 21, 30 inch HTH Reddog :P
  3. Yep, those are sure some boring pictures. Awesome job, thanks for sharing. Reddog
  4. Superscale use to make a sheet of white letters that I have been using for years, can't remember what the number of the sheet is right now but here is a website that may help you in your search. http://www.72scale.com/aircraft/generic/airmarkUSA.htm When I get home I will get you that number for the sheet I use for my blue Navy planes. 5. Paul, No sweat, don't think anything about. As for the gun, the gun is housed in the port pod and the ammo is housed in the starboard pod, that is why there is only one gun. For the TER's, you can hang up to; 3xMk 82, 2xCBU-99 Rockeye, 2xGBU-12, 2xMk 83, 3 x small practice bomb (Mk 76/BDU-48), or 1xLGTR. Also, it depends on what station they are loaded on and what you are loading. The list above is the max you can put on a TER for the AV-8B. Reddog
  6. Not sure when they stopped using MER's, to my knowledge they where never cleared. The inboard and midboard wing stations are only rated for around 2500 lbs and the out board rated for less then 1000 IIRC. Reddog <_<
  7. Those are MER's, not LAU-7's. And Matt you are correct, the AV-8B is not cleared for MER's. Also, that load out sheet they provide is totally inaccurate. The AV-8B, let alone the USN/USMC, use the M117 GP Bomb. That bomb has not been used by the USN/USMC for the past 25 years. Plus the stations they say are authorized for what weapon is wrong, don't know where they got their info but it doesn't look like they did much research on it. Reddog Edit: Also, the fuze extenders are not appropriate for the time period of the markings provide, the USN had stopped using fuze extenders about 18-20 ye
  8. One question, Why are there no chocks? Reddog
  9. Depends on the weapon, for example, for Sidewinders I use what's call heat shrink. You shrink it down to conform to the surface of the item and while it is still warm I mold the tip into the shape of a Sidewinder dome cover. For HARM Missiles, I just paint the nose the color of the nose cone and add black decal stripes to simulate the velcor attachment bands. Again, it depends on the weapon. Reddog
  10. I think there's enough clearance, barely, but should be enough. If someone wants to do this configuration, go for it. Reddog
  11. It's still too early for the annual ARC melt down, we still have about four weeks before that begins. <_< Reddog
  12. I never said it would work, just that I can hang them. Now if you want them to work here's how you do it, put the aft two on the centerline station of a TER. That's so they can be fired first and miss the front rails, then fire the front ones, basically the same firing sequence as the Phoenix. You could even put three on each wing, one on the A station and then configure the B station with a TER and put one on the outboard and centerline stations. Not sure about the fit but I think it would work. You could put just about anything on a plane if you think about it, making it work is a differn
  13. I believe it was for a photo op, by the time this photo was taken it was illegal to fly rails without fairings to my knowledge. Also, the bombs don't have any nose plugs so if this photo was taken before 2002, that was illegal also. I believe it was a fit check, just to see if it could be done without seriously think about doing it. Just because it could be fitted on the plane doesn't make it a good idea. Heck, I can put eight Sidewinders on a Tomcat, doesn't mean that they would work though. Reddog
  14. I was an ordnance man on F-14's for 14 years. Can they fit, yes, can you fire them or even electonically connect them to the plane, no. You can put them on there but they would be a gloried peper weight, plus I think the aft fins would hit the intake lip. I don't see them putting Harpoons on the belly, that's why they tried them on the wings. Reddog
  15. AGM-84 on the belly would not work, they would have to go on the wing stations. Reddog
  16. Matt, The gun is a GAU-12. Sorry, couldn't resist. :) Reddog :)
  17. To answer the question about if the Marines (USMC) use the gun pod, yes, they still do use the gun. And the "thingie" in the front, just aft of the nose gear, is called a LIDS, Lift Improvement Device System, which provided an addition 12% lift during takeoffs and landings. The Spanish & the Italians have the capability to carry the gun/pod, not sure if they do thou. Also, on word of advice, check your politics at the door or this thread will go the way of the Tomcat. Reddog :)
  18. Yes, station 1B is the lower left pylon station. Reddog
  19. Hey Brian, bout time you showed up, I can't keep answering these Jolly Rogers questions. Good to hear from you again. Reddog ;)
  20. Look here http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....&hl=vf-103* This should provide you an answer, Brain (VFA-103guy) is the authority on VF-103 The Jolly Ranchers (Rogers). HTH Reddog ;)
  21. The Harpoon was loaded on station 1B using a Phoenix adapter, BRU-10 Adapter and BRU-10 Bomb Rack. There is a picture of it on here some where. Reddog ;)
  22. From what I've read and learned, they had the windows but by the time of the photo they were painted over. HTH Reddog :)
