  1. Heres a couple of ideas for the hat..... what if the israelis had gotton hold of a slighly different mixed bag in their early airforces? Out: Anything 109 - In: Ta152 (especially the H!) Out: Spitfires - In: Typhoon/Tempest Out: B-17 - In: B-24 Out: Meteor - In:Vampire/Venom Out: Ouragon - In: Seahawk Im sure there are more.... and i also like the idea of a mixed bag of JASDF F-104 & Mig-21's. perhaps they could have swapped a few between with the Indian AF as they also do a few cool schemes, notably their ow
  2. THANKS JAY......... How did i miss that one??????? Ive never seen or heard of the hasagawa offering and all i could find referred to 'future release' but i will keep my eyes pealed. maybe it just never reached the UK in any numbers, and especially the dead end street i live in!
  3. What kits are available for the Ki46 'Dinah'? I know of Airfix and LS - are they any good (dont need perfection, just nothing horrific!) Apparently Hasegawa have a future release but i bet it will be £££££ and still a ? over when it will show (if ever!) Did Tamiya ever scale down the 1/48 offering? ------so many questions-------------
  4. Personally i didnt join this forum to see loads of c*** about non-aviation subjects! i think all you people are sad, weird, fools who should be barred, or shot, or at least painted yellow and hung from a pole (the stick thing not the countryman!)!!!!! Now i've got that off my chest i must go and finish that M26 Dragon Wagon, the first model i have attempted since leaving my job sailing the seven seas (where part of my job was to help shoot down fly boyz!)!!!!!! OOPS - seems i am that freak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE IRONY
  5. Had almost forgetten such a thing existed. I remember these from woolworths as a rug-rat modeller! If only one of the European biggies would produce a cheap and chearful replacement for old timers, or at the very least get revell to do its recycling magic and re-release it in order to rekindle peoples enthusiasm for such a weird and wonderful, and surprisingly successsful beast! In the meantime its always good to see such obscure types done so well. Looks like i may have to add one to my pending list.........
  6. Been looking to modernise my childhood memories but am lacking a few little bits towards my regression therapy. i remember building a Bronco about 25yrs ago and if memory serves me right i believe it was the airfix kit that is now getting somewhat rare. most likely it wasnt the fun build i remember from the days of glue laden plastic 'lookie-likies' so i would appreciate your help in offing a fresh perspective on my search. So far have identified at least 4 kits in 1/72 1. the aforementioned Airfix 2. An ancient Frog 3. A mysterious Revell 4. An unquantified, but seemingly more modern, A
  7. i would look at what sub-variant of typhoon you were building. early, mid or late? car door/bubble top, 3/4 blade prop, faired/unfaired cannon, bombs/rockets/neither, typhoon/tempest tail, reinforing plates..... lots of things changed throughout its short lifespan and it may be an educated gues acording to the timeframe it existed in. plus some aircraft also had coloured and marked inner doors as a recognition feature insead of the aluminium(or green or grey)
  8. just in case you are not confused yet..... compare these pix http://www.masdf.com/altimeter/rafmuseum/IMG_5583.jpg http://www.richard-seaman.com/Aircraft/Mus...wkerTyphoon.jpg the same airframe (infact the only complete airframe!) which can be used to confirm both colours simultaneously! the joys of trying to interpret from photos!!!!!! EDIT:.....looking at the only really clear pic i could find, in the Warpaint book, i would say you cant go wrong with aluminium, however it does seem that green is the colour of choice in the magazine builds (but cant find a reference for any of these)!
  9. looking at a few pics it seems the innerworkings are either slightly lighter/shinier than the under surface (typhoon) or slightly darker/matt (tempest) i would go with an aluminium scheme with a tiffy although it is possible that later examples had painted wells/doors in which case the interior green scheme would become more applicable. knowing what the weather is like here in (not so) sunny blighty could it be possible that the paint was introduced later as an anti corrosion measure?
  10. something was bugging me about my post.....! ...of course Reddog is correct in that the SH actually has twin pylon adapters rather than the trraditional MER of olden days! and even these are less likey than simply loading single stuff on each pylon. (checking my meagre refs. seems like there have been two variations on the design)
  11. TERs cannot be used because the pylons are too close together - a slight design flaw, after all it was supposed to be bigger than the classic F-18. (note that they also had to angle the pylons to ensure clean drops even without using them!) MERs are often carried, and although most pix show simple dumb bombs loaded. there should be plenty of google offerings for other bits of iron
  12. It is also very expensive in comparrison. i dont have the figures handy but its at least +50% of the F-16 price. The JASDF simply cant afford it compared to the original proposals of a 'tweaked' F-16 (local avionics, new radar, larger wing more suited to its A-G role) Will there ever be a F-3? hasnt stopped the them from dropping other aviation surprises on us, like the look of those new transport/patrol types.....makes a change from the same old/new herc/orion mix
  13. Been searching and i have only found a couple of pix of an empty bay in the Detail & Scale boook on the F-111 (D&S 04) Even the mighty Google brings naught! - unless you want it loaded and from 50ft away! EDIT: probably the only thing approaching a close up....looks like a tight fit! http://www.commercemarketplace.com/home/Co...r/fb111abay.jpg
  14. i've seen many pictures of the FB-111A/SRAM combo, what you rarely see is a close up of the internals of the bay. As it required special adapters to store internally it would be handy to have a pic of an empty bay awaiting stores!
  15. looks like the old story, an old kit that is as rare a a dinosaur on a bicycle a new kit that remains a rumour! always said i would start building again when it hit the shelves but alas i return without the one kit i really want!....boo for the lack of model, hurray for having the time and space to build again!
