    F-111 B

Thanks Jinxx1 and Hemspilot. Jinxx1, those pics are great. Shows a little more detail of how the boarding ladder stows/extends and I'm sure I'll pick up a few more details the more I study them. hemspilot, From what I've learnt from the Ginter book, the early prototypes had the shorter flaps and slats. If you look at the pics on pages 23,24 and 27 you'll note that the leading edge slat is fully extended and there is no rotating glove where on page 36 and 37 shows the later prototype with the production style rotating glove/full length leading edge slat. Thanks again for your input guys! M

    F-111 B

Thanks Tailspin Turtle for the extra pictures and info on the ejection set up on the prototypes. I was hoping there was some pics that showed a little more detail of the well that the crew boarding ladder retracted into and would dearly love to see the IFR probe deployed. Looks like a little artistic licence will be of use. Thanks again for the reply. Mark

Thanks Murph, That is the book that ignighted my curiosity. I've found a lot of useful info within but would love to see any extra images that might show a little more detail of things like the crew boarding ladder, IFR probe, main gear and tailhook. I'll shoot Tommy a PM and see if he has any further info. Cheers Mark

    F-111 B

I've been doing a little research on the F-111B and am really struggling to find anydecent photos. All the pics in the book I have are black and white and quite grainy. So if any of you have any pics that you might wish to share, I'd be very greatful. Cheers Mark
  5. Sure did. Dad told me a story about when he was flying them during the 80's. There were some USAF one elevens from that were at Amberley during a joint excercise and the American aircrew were quite taken by the seat covers. A few of the seat covers were found missing after the American's departure. The reason the theft wasn't discovered for a while was that every one was too busy laughing about the extra 'O' that the Mountain Home (MO) tail codes had aquired. Cheers Mark
  6. Nice work Mate. One quick point to note, The RAAF have black sheep skin seat covers on their one elevens. The head rests are still red though. http://i.pbase.com/g6/76/555776/2/69073001.OVXjvDqu.jpg http://www.airliners.net/photo/Australia--...111C/0289965/M/ Cheers Mark
  7. That's some top notch work you're doing there Nathan! I really respect the amount of work you're going to there. Keep those updates comming. Ps. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a a fair few people taking inspiration from your work, I'll be one of them. Cheers Mark
  8. I'm in desperate need of working space! Every time I start I need to unpack and pack up again when finished. Kind of saps any enthusiasm I get. So for the meantime, you guys are my surrogate modelers. I do have an F-111 project on the go at the moment but as it's for somene else, I can't really post any pics in respect to the customer's wishes. I'm gaining a lot of inspiration from all your guys scratch building and once our tax is done I might be able to take over the office desk for some quality modeling time. Keep up the good work. Mark
  9. Nice looking Cockpit Andrew. I don't know where you find the time to turn out the volume of high quality work you do. I look forward to seeing how your front wheel well turns out. :popcorn Cheers Mark :
  10. Hi Chris. The angle that those pics were taken from make it a little hard to tell. Here is an excellent walk around that on Page 3 has some really useful photo's showing the flaps and slats at full extension. http://www.aussiemodeller.com/pages/Histor...edwards_P1.html Cheers Mark
  11. Given the time frame of the F-111B development, I think it'd be safe to assume that the 'superplow' intake would have been what the production TPII was a further development of. Here are some pics of the last F-111B. It's the pre production prototype with the longer nose etc and is pretty close to how the final production variant would have appeared. Note. The port intake is missing the inlet spike. This is not a development feature. Hope this is of help. Mark
  12. Hi Andrew. The RAAF C model has the TP 1 intakes but the 'G' model we've been operating has the TP 2 intakes as they are former FB-111A's. http://www.f-111.net/models/inlets/index.htm http://www.adf-serials.com/ Hope this helps.
  13. Nice work Chris. The wings are progressing nicely and you're doing a great job. One thing though. The leading edge slat might be a little too long. You might hav trouble when you go to fit the wings to the fuselage. Here is a pic of the wing installed and you can see where the slat will foul at the length you have it. I'm not trying to criticise, just trying to save you some Cheers Mark
  14. You're Crazy!!!!!!! I baulked at doing the weapons bay, nose and main gear wells. I figure the work involved in the wings is a lot easier that what you're currently doing. Well done mate! Your work looks excellent. You've inspired me to have a go myself. Cheers Mate. Mark
  15. I've found the best way to join the Academy fuselage halfs is to glue a strip of sheet styrene to the rear of the front fuselage half to use as a tongue. In the following photo's I've just put a strip of tape to indicate the position and size of the styrene I would use for this. Hope this helps. This is the quality of join you expect from this.
