  1. 1. Rush-hour traffic, pulling up to a traffic light, light is green for heavy traffic crossing in front of me, then turns orange and red but the idjits are in such a hurry to get backed up at the next traffic light that they feel it's their right to enter the intersection anyway and grid-lock us because they couldn't be a@#sed to wait their turn. Our side turns green and we sit staring into the side of their vehicles while they do enything and everything possible not to look in our direction or apologise. 2. 4-lane highway where the fast lane is occupied by idjits doing 20 km/hr less than the
  2. A bit OT so excuse me, but I stopped using Humbrol paints when I was a teenager when I travelled home by air after my holidays, and the 1/48 F-14 and Humbrol paints my dad had bought me went in my luggage in the hold. When I got to my destination half the Humbrol tins had opened due to the luggage compartment not being pressurized, and the paint was everywhere. One destroyed kit and one very unhappy teenager! So bottom line, I prefer to have to smack my paint bottles around a bit from time to time to get them open. :D Wayne
  3. MadHatter, this build of yours is phenominal! I just happened across your thread by looking at the latest updates and i'm amazed at what you have achieved here. She really is going to be a beauty once she's finished. Great work! Wayne
  4. MEK = Methyl Ethyl Ketone and it's used in modelling to weld polystyrene plastic surfaces together. I used to use it years ago when constructing my HO-scale buildings and it worked very well. I believe though that it is a slightly hazardous chemical, gives off strong fumes, and is very flammable. HTH. Wayne
  5. This time I can help. :) The following images come from 'Camouflage & Markings - No 13 - Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress - USAAC & AAF 1937-1945' and are copyright Ducimus Books of London - Wayne
  6. Just found another link to an html file containing the same info as the PDF, but it has a couple of photographs that seem to be of the imapct and damage caused by the 109 - http://sites.google.com/site/justlearns/history/Parchim Wayne
  7. I can't help with the markings question, but looking around on the 'net I found an interesting PDF document containing a first-hand account of the incident along with quite a bit of information from Capt. William Budd Wentz. Hope you find it useful with your build. http://home.earthlink.net/~tom.mccrary/TargetParchim-RammedOverGermany.pdf There is also a lot of reference made to Capt. Wentz and his aircraft at the following link, however they mention there that commercial decals are/were not available for the aircraft. They do however refer to some books which may contain images of the aircr
  8. Could someone please add me to the participants list? Thanks. :) Build thread - http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=236376 Wayne
  9. Coming in as a bit of a late starter, I'm joining in on this GB with an Academy 1/72 B-17F "Memphis Belle". I plan to build her OOB but may to a few things here and there to spruce her up a bit as I go along. I won't be able to compete with some of the fantastic builds going on here, but hopefully I can do her justice. This group build is exactly what I need to get me back to building again as RL has kept me away for a few months. The obligatory box shot showing I haven't touched this kit before. :) Wayne
  10. lol! Thanks BAH, looking forward to it! Wayne
  11. Am I too late to join in on this group build? There are still just over 4 months left by my reckoning. :) I have an Academy 1/72 B-17F Memphis Belle I'd like to build, and this GB seems like an ideal opportunity to get some fantastic info while joining in on a really great subject GB. Wayne
  12. Once again, thanks to all for your very informative answers. It's great to be able to get helpful and good info like this. Wayne
  13. Murph, maybe you can help me with another question specifically about the GBU-24 Paveway III. The kit i'm building at the moment is an Academy 1/48 F-14A Bombcat, and it has 2 GBU-24's to hang on the cat. Something that's puzzling me is the way the rear fins on these kit GBU's fit against the casing of the bomb is not perpendicular to an imaginary line running from the very tip at the nose to the very tip of the tail end. They are set in such a way that the front edge of the fin is slightly off to one side of this imaginary line, and the rear edge slightly off to the other side. (This is hard
  14. @thegoodsgt - Thanks for you input. I also like the idea of having subtle differences to show the way that some ordnance is more weathered than others, and that different manufacturers weapons look subtly different. @murph - Thanks for the input and links! You've given me a lot of information to work with. I'm sure I can come up with some realistic colours from that. I didn't find that forum post you linked to because I was searching from the angle of 'Paveway'. Wayne
  15. I'm busy building an F-14 Bombcat, and I need some colours for the bombs and air-to-air missiles i've just finished building. I would appreciate any help with FS numbers or Tamiya acrylic colours that would be appropriate for the following weapons, as I have found loads of information but no FS colour references - GBU-24 Paveway III GBU-31(v)1 JDAM AIM-54 Phoenix AIM-7 Sparrow AIM-9L/M/X Sidewinder Any help would be greatly appreciated.
