  1. To be perfectly clear, I really have no dog in this fight. I couldn't care less about the F-14 or scale models of it. Will I build one? Probably.....maybe. Do I really, really care if it is accurate or not? No, not really. For this particular aircraft, I'm a TLAR modeler (that looks about right). None of the photos I've posted are mine either. I've simply re-posted images that others have. I'm just making an attempt at being a voice of reason in this endless sea of negative complaints. It's actually quite sad to see AMK being verbally treated the way they are by a bunch of scale m
  2. The only thing I did was rotate the image of the AMK fuselage until it closely matched the angle of the Tamiya image. I did enlarge it just a bit, but not much. My focus was to show the contours pretty much matched. Bottom line is don't compare the size of the fuselage's as one image (Tamiya/bottom) is slightly larger than the other.
  3. Again, it has been stated by Martin that the top photo is an EARLY TEST SHOT that has since been corrected. Why do you all continue to base your claims of a 'flaw' on that one photo!? "Nothing is conclusive with the photos we have" - This statement above cracked me up. Yes, nothing is conclusive, but here you all are with the same unproven claims, using the same photo......over, and over, and over again. Perhaps you should all go back to page 112. This has become an absolute embarrassment.........and I'm not speaking about AMK.
  4. Am I the only one that sees the difference?
  5. Here is how the kit would look with the decals applied. I cut the stripes using my vinyl cutter to make sure everything fit properly. My sincere thanks to the Marines of VMFA(AW)-224 that sent all of the photos necessary to make this possible!
  6. Posted with permission from Raymond Chung of Kinetic/Lucky Model. This is the decal sheet that will be included with kit 48033, the F/A-18D ATARS release. Combat vets from Operation Allied Force and Operation Inherent Resolve. **A change to the sheet was requested. Two options, VMFA(AW)-121 and VMFA(AW)-533, along with the stencils were dropped.
  7. Neither you, or anyone else has been able to prove, with definitive photos or any other information, that there is a flaw in the kit. Simply because you "think" there is one, doesn't mean there is one. I actually find it a bit comical, especially considering the fact that images of the production kit have been few and you're basing your somewhat matter of fact statement on what has been said to be an early test shot. For those that have been so sure of yourselves about 'flaws', I have a feeling there is a plate of crow warming in an oven for you. Great Wall releasing their kit firs
  8. Very few from what I was told by the plane captain. I included the most obvious (ejection, intake warnings, etc.) Adding any additional stencils would be entirely up to each modeler. Please send me photos of your build when it's done! Dave
  9. There is absolutely no proof of this whatsoever and your matter of fact statement is the only thing that is flawed. Beside that, with knowledge of your ridiculous expectations of what makes a good kit, some of us can't take anything you say about accuracy seriously.
  10. One of my co-workers is from Latvia. What type of advice are you looking for? Let me know and I'll ask her if she can help with answers.
  11. Actually, I just took a closer look at your photo. I originally thought you were referring to the fairing itself, which does go almost all the way to the nozzle. Re-reading your post, you are referring to the "kink/angle" (for lack of a better term). There are no clear photos of this part that I've seen, so I can't say if it is correct or not.
  12. It isn't a potential issue. The shroud pretty much goes all the way to the burner can.....
  13. Go to the 13:10 mark in the video.....This area of the AMK F-14D is clearly shown......This area of the AMK F-14D is correct on the production kit........All of this hype on the inaccuracy of this area is being blown completely out of proportion........It's only a plastic replica of an airplane........You're still going to be able to breathe if it is slightly off.........The Earth is still going to revolve around the Sun........Pistachio Ice Cream is still going to be my favorite......Muhammad Ali will continue to be the greatest boxer that ever got in the ring, etc., etc.
  14. Rodney, That looks awesome! That decal sheet was the first product I ever released and it's nice to learn it was the first aftermarket sheet you ever purchased. Do you mind if I use your photos on my web site and Facebook page to show off the use of the decals? Dave
  15. This is the last sheet. They were emailed to the printer earlier this afternoon and should be ready to pick up tomorrow afternoon along with the ordnance charts. I'll start packing and shipping tomorrow evening.
  16. Not yet.......If all goes as planned, they should start shipping tomorrow. I just sent the last sets of instruction sheets to the printer and should be able to pick them up tomorrow afternoon. The decals were received almost a month early from Microscale and it took me a few days longer than expected to get the placement guides finished. Hope the final product is worth the wait.
  17. The stripes on the tail of the 115 jets are sized to fit the Hasegawa kit. That part of the tail is slightly wider on the Hasegawa kit than it is on the Kinetic kit. As a result, it will fit the Kinetic tail perfectly with only a trimming of the decal needed (after being applied).
  18. Well, a couple of years ago I started a master for a 1/48 GRU-5 ejection seat and had a potential buyer for it.........then you released yours and the offer to release mine was respectfully rescinded. I wasn't angry (hell, I bought two sets of yours), but things like this happen. If no one "stepped on toes", there would only be ONE kit of each subject for us to choose from and we'd all be happy with our Italeri 1/48 SR-71's! 😄 😄
  19. Until 1 October at least. Form what I've been told, all color is to be removed from aircraft at the beginning of the new FY. Variations of gray will be acceptable, but the days of full color Navy CAG and Marine Corps Command Jets are apparently over.
  20. I've just had several projects going on all at once and haven't had a chance to add the profiles to the site. I'll have them by the middle of the week.
  21. The sheets have arrived from Microscale..........three weeks earlier than expected! I'll be playing catch up this weekend wrapping up the placement guides and getting them all packed up. Order button is turned on! https://flyingleathernecksdecals.com Dave
