  1. Did make some progress last night as I managed to get the 'D primed ready for paint... Will keep adding pics as and when...
  2. Got them! Thanks very much Chris - much appreciated
  3. Very nice Ted! You've inspired me to get on with my 'C and 'D - will hopefully progress the paint over the next few days...
  4. Athough not directly related, you might want to check out the IPMS UK F-4 SIG's website with their group build - www.500phantoms.com.
  5. Current state of play of F-4D no.1. This is being built straight from the Hasegawa kit, the only change being the addition of some aftermarket ejection seats, and decals from Hi Decal sheet 72-055. It will represent a/c 66-7751 from the 93rd TFS, 482nd TFW during early 1984 in the "flipper" 3-tone grey scheme. More to follow soon!
  6. Thought I'd better start posting some pics before I get accused of either not doing anything, or trying to enter something I've already built!! :) So... current state of play of F-4C no.1. This is being built straight from the Hasegawa kit, the only change being the addition of some aftermarket ejection seats, and decals from Eagle Strike sheet 72025. It will represent a/c 63-7604 from the 559th TFS, 12th TFW tail coded "XN" in the standard SEA scheme. More to follow soon!
  7. Excellent! I did originally think of doing one of each, but decided to do the 2nd aircraft as something else (although I'm not yet entirely sure what!!)
  8. I have used Gunze in the past, but found the color matching to be a little erratic (e.g. their Gunship grey has a purple tinge to it)...
  9. So... nobody worldwide has seen the A-10A version, nobody has bought or built one and nobody has an opinion. Interesting...

  11. Xtracolor for me. Testors MM is not generally available in the UK, nor is Pollyscale. Tamiya used to be available but has more or less disappeared this year (I believe they've had technical problems). Humbrol is slowly coming back but most stores have switched over to Revell, which I don't use as it's not color matched to FS. The biggest thing over here now is Vallejo and Lifecolor - but I don't get on with acrylics so will fight until the last to stay with enamels!
  12. I used the Humbrol stuff recently and couldn't get it off... ended up having to scrape it off with a knife!
  13. Unfortunately I did't buy one - was hoping to find a good review first!
  14. Any more? Keep em coming guys! Anyone got more pics of the Dodge Rams (M880), CUCV (M1008/M1009) or the current Silverado etc?
  15. Chris, Any chance you could email me copies too - I plan to do both the HH3 and HH-1N at some point...

    1/72 Predator

Thanks Mark - I wasn't aware of that!
  17. I also found these at the East Midlands Model Show yesterday. Again, both are "quick builds" with the wings and horizontal tail are moulded with the fuselage. Has anyone built one, and if so how does it compare to the Hasegawa and Academy kits in terms of detail, accuracy and fit?? It appears that the "E" is actually a "D" as it doesn not have the CFT pylons. Both kits have little in the way of cockpit or undercarriage detail, and the tanks seem a little off too...
  18. I found one of the new 1/72nd scale A-10A kits at the East Midlands Model Show yesterday. It seems to be a "quick build" in that the wings and horizontal tail are moulded with the fuselage. Has anyone built one, and if so how does it compare to the Italeri kit in detail, accuracy and fit??
  19. I'd like to play too! First batch of 3 are as follows:- Hasegawa 1/72nd F-4C From kit but with True Details seats Markings from Eagle Strike sheet 72025 for 63-7604 of the 559th TFS, 12th TFW Hasegawa 1/72nd F-4D From kit but with True Details seats Markings from Hi Decal sheet 72-055 for the "Flipper" 3-tone grey aircraft 66-7751 from the 93rd TFS, 482nd TFW during early 1984 AMT/ERTL RF-4C From kit but with True Details seats Markings from Superscale sheet 72-369 for 65-0828 from the 173rd TRS, 155th TRG during the 1981 "Photo Finish" meet All three of these are quite advanced in
  20. I built a set out of brass rod! The weakness is the upright rather than the strut which holds the wheel - the easiest thing would be to drill a hole right through and reinforce with wire. Not sure if anyone does a white metal u/c set to be honest...
  21. It's a really good book - AND it has photos and colour details for the "leopard" HH-3! There was a color scheme drawing for the Leopard HH-1 in (I believe) one of the Airfix magazines - drop mig23 a line as he has a copy stashed away somewhere...
  22. Drop a line to mig23 - he's build about a dozen and has a reasonable match using Humbrol paint...

    1/72 Predator

The Reaper is available from Unicraft in 1/72nd scale I believe... I'd suspect it's to their usual level of quality.
  24. Biggest downside (apart from the cockpit) is are the main gear - they're extremely weak and at some point they WILL break. I'd suggest reinforcing them with wire when you're building to save you having to do it later!
