On October 12, 1964, during its third test flight, its first supersonic, the paint of the XB-70 was torn off in entire patches on nearly 15% of the surface. Whose fault is it ? Nobody really knows, but each time a VIP was announced for a visit (ground tests, taxiing, first flight tests, etc.), it was systematically repainted in the immaculate white livery. The layers were superimposed, which modified its aerodynamics and caused unwanted turbulences which had the consequence of tearing off the paint or melting it following the heating of certai

I have a pretty good supply of various Xtracolor and Model Master enamels in unopened tins and jars. I’m looking for Xtracolor X129, also in unopened condition. If you have some of that, and would like to trade, let know what you might be looking for. US only please due to postage and shipping regulations... PM me if interested... thanks

I was wondering if any of you guys or gals out there know of something that will effectively strip enamel model paint (of the Testors square bottle flavor to be exact)? I had, up until this point, used Easy Off oven cleaner but it seems that they changed the formula and it's too caustic and damages the plastic. I'm trying to find something that will work without attacking the plastic. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi! I've got quite a few requests to show details of the MILVUS-62 resin model build. So this is the first part of the video series. I'll be grateful for comments helping to improve and for subscribing the WhatIfSciFi channel - this will boost the chances of my new works being featured in the public. Thank you! Cheers JARED

I've been using Model Master paints for years as my primary paint when it comes to modern U.S aircraft and some modern RAF aircraft. I just found out yesterday that the whole line is being discontinued! This presents a big problem, which paint brand do I choose now? Any suggestions as to which brand out there is the best in terms of accuracy when it comes to modern U.S. and RAF paint colors? I've used Gunze in the past especially for WW2 German and Japanese aircraft, they work great, just never used to their FS colors for any major projects. I've also used Hataka for the Viggen (turned out gre

Hi all, Looking to build a simple paint curing box in preparation for the wet/damp/humid winter months ahead. This summer, I put my freshly painted birds in a big plastic tub and sealed, with a couple silica packets in to eliminate moisture. Then I placed it out in the sun and it helped dry the enamel coats a good bit faster than usual. With winter coming, and little to no heat from the sun available, I want to mimic this, but instead using a heat producing lamp. I assume doing the exact same would work, with the lamp addition. Anything else I should consider?

Hi all, brand new user here and at 60 years old and forced retirement around the corner, I want to get back in the hobby. I got the Academy Minicraft B-29A Enola Gay and I am utterly confused by the paint numbers on the instruction sheet. I have looked at some of the paint conversion web sites but without much help.. Can someone guide me in the right direction on coverting paint numbers to Tamiya or other well known paint manufacturers? Thank you very much..
