Pete Wenman
Looking good A little extra work can make all the difference Pete
JochemKL
Agree with Pete, The work you did seems minor but it does a whole lot to make a model stand out. The tool you made is tiny spiked wheel? And then like a pizza-slicer you're making the rivets? Jochem
moeggo
Very nice! Love the rivets! What did you ue to make that tool??
wingman47
Very nice! Love the rivets! What did you ue to make that tool?? Moeggo, the tool was made from a pin vise, a mandrel (I think that what its called) and the wheel is from a watch innards kit. Got the watch innards kit from my local hobby shop I used a file to taper the tooth. Here is a few photos, hope it will help you.
gkicsak
Such a simple idea for making the Riveting tool. Thanks for sharing this method of making it. This is incentive to go out and make one. Cheers, Gabe :D

I've made another one, see watch you think. Here is a photo
chukw
I never thought to shape the gear teeth like that- brilliant insight, Holmes! I'm off to make my own... cheers!
wingman47
Did more work on the rivet detail to the fuselage, its almost done.
jrallman
what is the sort of glossy looking stuff that you have overtop of the places you riveted?
wingman47
what is the sort of glossy looking stuff that you have overtop of the places you riveted? jrallman...its just Testors cement that I brushed on the area that I worked. It gives the plastic a smoothed finish.
bilkeau
Great stuff! Usually a quick glance at all the rivets on the Model Art plans are enough to dissuade most people from attempting anything so rash! The new spinner makes a helluva difference too. jrallman
man, i didnt even know that glue existed when i was a kid. i just had the ol red tube of testors and would glop way too much glue on everything, including, of course, the canopy!
The Mikester
just had the ol red tube of testors and would glop way too much glue on everything, including, of course, the canopy Yeah, I started with that stuff, my Dad is a modeler too though so as soon as the liquid stuff came out I just "liberated" his. I think I was about 11 or 12, mid '70's.

wingman47
I finished the rivet detail the nose will finish the rear fuselage when I attach the wings. Started on the cockpit, its the Cooper detail set except for the instrument panel I prefer the kit instrument panel. I painted the dials and used 5 minute epoxy for the lens.
