zeus60
How do folks clean sanding sticks, assuming that you do clean them? My get clogged up pretty quickly. Can I just use soap and water? TIA. Stacey
mkimages
Simply holding them under a faucet and rubbing with my fingers usually does a pretty good job of cleaning them up. For really clogged ones, sometimes I'll rub lightly with a sheet of sandpaper of a coarser grit than the stick i'm cleaning. It works well and doesn't seem to damage the stick at all. Triarius
I always wet sand, which eliminates the problem before it happens.
David Walker
I just use running water.
oldcat
Woodworkers use what is really a big, soft eraser on a stick to clean sanding belts. I have some around and just use that. A common pencil eraser should work fine for small sanders. The light tan erasers that are about 1.5 inches long by 1 inch square should do the job. The nice thing about an eraser is that you can take a swipe over the eraser at any time without interrupting your work. Ed
HomagerMan
I personally use a toothbrush and running water. Works fine for me. James

kitnut617
Here's another one, I use a bit of old carpet, just rub the stick back and forth on it and it comes clean, I've been using this method for years. Edited May 5, 2008 by kitnut617
