Fishwelding
When I read that Google and Life were partnering, my immediate thought was that this would probably attract modelers. Second photo, ship #5: Are those dents in the front of the cowling, or merely some sort of discoloration? Edited November 29, 2008 by Fishwelding
A-4Silverfox
Look like dents to me, some substantial ones at that.
WymanV
#5 must've had its share of bad luck-check out the bird parts stuck on the tail. Ken
Fishwelding
With discoloration, wear, and shabby patching, none of these planes are exactly in their Sunday best anyhow. Another reason both photos are real treasures.

Fishwelding
Admittedly, it's an American publication, but all sorts of interesting stuff are here.
Sabre Freak
Hyperscale has had a theme section on the Life photos... Some really excellent finds! Life Theme Pics
Fishwelding
In general, props to Google for the service. Lately their efforts to scan and put old stuff on the web has been of particular help to historians. Well, at least certain history students, at least... I've also found some of their stuff useful for teaching, too.
richter111
I just spent a few minutes buzzing around there, quite interesting to say the least, thanks for the links! Ric
