kuman
Hi guys.. hopefully i ask this in a right channel... i found this while looking for reference for RSAF Tornado. and i have this kit but its 1/72 scale... i wonder if there are any decal out there that depict the RSAF Tornado in 1/48 scale? in Hannants i found this decal from Carpena with the below description Gulf Air Power 1991/2 Pt 2 (6) Tornado F3 2907 29Sqn Royal Saudi Air Force; Mirage F1 No 772 Free Kuwait Air Force; Hunter FGA73 No 825 6 Sqn Sultanate of Oman Air Force; MiG-23BN 23173 7Sqn Iraq Air Force; 29060 MiG-29 Fulcrum Iraq Air Force; No 4237 SA 342K Gazelle Iraq Air Force is this the decal suitable for RSAF Tornado in 1/48 scale for the above scheme? does anyone have the instruction or know where i can find it for that Carpena Decal? need to be sure before i proceed with the purchase. thanks in advance
ixgr1
The decals will probably do......unless you whant to go with absolute accuracy. The only real short coming will be the lack of a GR1 (bomber) squadron insignia, and you will have to re-hash the numbering if required ( I think GR1's have three numbers, not four ?) - as these decals are for an F3 (inteceptor) I can't recall any specific decals (in this scale) for a Saudi GR1 ? Bobski
There are a few decals available for the RSAF Tornado IDS. Those decals will not be suitable as they are the Tornado ADV and are very different from those on the IDS.
scotthldr
Those Carpena decals are no use. As far as I know there isn't any dedicated Saudi decal for the Tornado IDS in 1/48 at the moment. Model Alliance are releasing a sheet MA48-123 Storm Warning Part 1 which includes such markings, due for release January 2010. If I were you I would wait and get the best you can. Matt Roberts
There was a sheet back around the time of Desert Storm with a Tornado and a Kuwaiti Mirage and Skyhawk - but that was nearly 20 years ago now.... If you can wait a bit, maybe paint it up and set it aside, with Hobbyboss coming out with Tornados I am sure that there will be new Tornado decals aplenty - Model Alliance that Scott mentioned has I think 4 or 5 covering the whole Tornado operational life. They should be available - at least for looking at by the UK IPMS Nationals at Telford in November. http://www.theaviationworkshop.co.uk/ Here is the sheet we were talking about (I think....) http://www.theaviationworkshop.co.uk/decal...mier/MA-174.php Edited October 20, 2009 by Matt Roberts

This will be fine since i'm a slow modeller.. I got a sheet from Tigerwings with RSAF markings on it.From Hobbyeasy.com I thinkStephen @Stephen. - i think its already out of stock, i was there just now.. checking thanks Remember, now the RSAF Tornados are becoming grey because of the Tornado Sustainment Program.Sadly now theyre looking like anyother Tornado -is it? this is new to me... this is sad indeed... but Saudi tornado have different scheme for each of the variant? (IDS/GR4/F3) do they operate each of the variant of just 1 specific? i dont really know which variant they have just the scheme is very attractive that makes me want to make one... thanks for all the idea guys... it seems that waiting till January would be the best & safest bet for now cheers kuman
