madmike
I started this beaut little Trumpeter KV-1's "Ehkranami" late last year for the "It's Not about Aircraft" GB. Kit goes together like a charm and I have drilled holes above the appliqué armour between the return rollers to allow insertion of thin metal (steel) wire to create track sag. Trumpeter tracks hold no fear for me anymore as black cotton sewing thread deals with joining them together where CA and model glue cannot. I used a turned aluminium barrel to replace the kit F-32 76mm gun and a Eureka XXL tow cable aftermarket set to replace the poorly detailed soft vinyl kit offerings. and after much further ado at the lower Urals Tractor factory, the result is as below..... I used Vallejo Russian Green along with various filters of the base colour lighted with yellow ochre. Dot filters and pin washes from oil paints completed all the base weathering with MIG pigments adding dust and muck to the tracks, lower chassis and running gear. The tracks? B) ..... Lessons learned all the time. They struggled but turned out OK. Base has now been finished and the KV-1's has found a home. The first (technically) finished build for 2010!
