shinai
So I have read about people using a retarder for when they are brushing on acrylics. I main use Tamiya and would like some extra paint time and not be so rushed when brushing certain areas. My question is . . .what kind of retarders are you using? I have looked and no one mentions any by name or what I should look for exactly. I hope this is not a retarded (excuse the pun) question. On another note. I will be in Chicago next month for a conference and am driving in. Are there any good LHS people could recommend. I am hoping to find some Mr. Color or other stuff I can't get out here in the country!
Triarius
Any artist's supply store can sell you acrylic retarder. Any brand will do. Createx, Liquitex, Golden, etc. If you are near Wheeling, check out AdVenture Hobbies.

One of the reasons I'm getting less interested in football—hideous officiating. But then, it's no worse than some of the player's performances.

I also felt this game-ender was a shame BUT, the official's call was correct IMHO. It is the rule I think that should be under scrutiny, not the officials enforcement of it. shinai
Okay so I went to Hobby Lobby and Michael's and they had no clue what I was talking about. Is there a specific name associated with the product besides retarder?
Phantom ordie
I use Liquitex with good results. Can't tell you how much to use, I simply squirt two or three drops in the amount of paint I,m useing.

Triarius
I also felt this game-ender was a shame BUT, the official's call was correct IMHO. It is the rule I think that should be under scrutiny, not the officials enforcement of it. Looked to me as if he caught the ball, landed on his backside, got up and placed the ball on the ground. But I agree, the rule should be scrutinized and revised. If a player's hips are on the ground, he's down, not going anywhere. If he's in control of the ball at that point, that's where the ball is down. Also, the official nearest the ball ruled it a TD. Bad rule, poor officiating, IMHO. Rules are getting to be as bad as laws. Next thing you know, the teams will have on-field lawyers to dispute every call. When I played, bad calls by the officials were just part of the game, and they generally fell both ways, so it turned out relatively "fair." But we digr ess…
Triarius
Okay so I went to Hobby Lobby and Michael's and they had no clue what I was talking about. Par for the course. Go to the artists acrylic paint section, you'll find them there. All the major brands have at least one. Golden's is just called "retarder." One bottle will last a lifetime. terryt
Liquitex makes a retarder sold under that name RETARDER! If you are in Chicago, try Art supply (Chicago Airbrush) for retarder. http://www.artsupply.com/
