I don't know if these altenatives can be called exotic, but they are not european: MF: Egypt and Uganda BIS: Mozambique and Angola If you are not concentrating your interest on arab/african conflicts/airforces these might also be interesting exotic choices: Afghanistan, Bangladesh (ok, no BIS but MF), India (very colorfull versions possible!) Same thing happened to me again today: wanting to check something African, I went to the book shelf and casually grabbed "Arab MiGs 1".
