Hornet14
What is the best match for the metal on the F-4 tailfins and area around the engines in the back of the plane?
Bob Beary
It is not one shade. I start with Alclad Aluminum as a base. Then mask off different panel areas and use Alclad dark aluminum, steel, jet exhaust, magnesium and pale gold. It is an artistic process and I just mix and match until I get it to look the way I want. Bob
Tom G
Check out Fighting Eighty-Four's build of the F-4G in the Display Case. He has a step by step pictorial of his technicque on the exhaust area which seems very realistic to me. Like Bob he uses various Alclad paints. SCOUT712
I used Modelmaster Metalizers and pastel powder on mine. I never used Alcad so far. http://www.zone-five.net/showthread.php?t=16391&highlight=Scout712&page=4 Cheers Michael

DonSS3
I liked Modelmaster Metalizers Titanium for mine. Probably a bit too dark, but I liked the effect and a little judicious polishing here and there can keep it from looking too bland. I use the same paint for the aft fuselage area.
