I know that Detail & Scale Vol.31 F-8 Crusader has simple 1/72 scale drawings, at least for fighters. Then there is the even older [1970-80's] Aviation News Plans service [UK], Vol.4, No.15, 26 Dec-8 Jan 1976 which probably has exactly what you want, with l/r sides, top, bottom and frame sections, again in 1/72 scale. Indeed, these kind of drawings should be taken as a (secondary) guide only, for cross referencing or differentiating between variants.
