Tamiya 1/48 F-16CJ with Aires , Eduard and Reskit AM

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I have been a long time lurker and thought I’d post my build. It’s the famous Tamiya Viper. Took about 1.5 years mainly due to having to restart the build after screwing up the intake and the Aires wheel bays. In the end gave up on the Aires bays since I felt the effort to make them work was not worth the effort and instead detailed up the stock gear bay with Eduard PE and lead wires.

Aftermarket used -

Aires F16CJ cockpit (not really worth the effort but fit was generally ok)

Eduard F-16 late seat (found it better detailed than Aires)

Quinta 3D cockpit (only for the instrument panel)

Eduard exterior and undercarriage PE

Eduard 1/48 SNIPER XR targeting pod and AGM-88 HARM

Reskit 1/48 AIM120C and AIM9X

Kopecky HTS pod and LAU129 pylons

Eduard Resin wheels

KA models 3D printed exhaust combined with eduard resin fan section

Master Model pitot tube and static dischargers

Speedhunter wild weasel decals and stencil sheet

The toughest part for me was getting the paint smooth in the intakes. I decided to airbrush it using GX gloss white followed by micromesh to smooth it out. Overall the paints used for the main camo are from MRP.

Thanks for looking

Great job. Very informative on the AM parts used and painting the intake. Appreciate that tidbit. The MiG killer has been on my list of 'to-do' for a while so nice to see it.
