Cadfael
Cascade Aerospace of Abbotsford, BC is the winning bidder (other bidders were SPAR in Edmonton and IMP in Halifax) of the Optimized Weapon System Management (OWSM) program for the airfame. This covers the majority of support work for the Herc, including program management, engineering, maintenance, material and technical support. Two more CC130 OWSM contracts remain to be implemented for the avionics and propulsion systems as well as those for the CF188 and CP140.

Sean Bratton
Sad day for a lot of people in Edmonton. Good news for Cascade, a sad day for SPAR.
Backfire
Sad news for Edmonton indeed... they employed about 700 people locally, and our Mayor was absolutely livid about the situation on the news this morning. Sad day for a lot of people in Edmonton.Good news for Cascade, a sad day for SPAR. Sean, IIRC a close family member of yours worked for SPAR here... Keith
Sean Bratton
Keith, You're correct, my Dad works there. At least he has a few options at this point and is fairly close to retiring. I know a lot of the people he works with (and have for many, many years) and this will affect a lot of families. Interesting to read the article in the Journal this morning - there are a few ideas in the article that give one food for thought. It's also nice to see an Edmonton Mayor who's willing to rock the boat. Regards,
Backfire
Sean, I hope things work out well for your Dad and the many others at SPAR here in Edmonton. Cheers, Keith
