  1. Great work - I always learn something from your posts, either historical or build tips.
  2. Thanks for the original post regarding the hack. I was looking for a solution and it worked perfectly for me, much appreciated! Keith
  3. Will the decal sheet be available for purchase also, for non-entrants? Keith
  4. Very sad news indeed, I didn't know he was so gravely ill. I always enjoyed chatting with Rick when visiting his shop, both at the old and new location, when I was in Calgary. He will be missed.
  5. One of the local hobby shops claims the retail price will be $350.00 CAD, if they can get any. The last time I saw one on their shelf (two years ago) it was about $220.00 retail. I reserved one from HLJ so I hope they get enough inventory to match the pre-orders. Even with $60.00 shipping cost it is still far cheaper than the local retail price.
  6. You nailed it. Canada was also the first country in the world to formally recognize an independent Ukraine in 1991.
  7. Interesting photo of a Ukrainian MiG-29 supporting government "anti-terrorist" operations in Donbass (eastern Ukraine). Fully armed MiG-29 in the "Ukrainian Falcons" demonstration team paint scheme. Guess they wanted everyone to know which country it belonged to?
  8. For what it's worth, I have been to Ukraine and specifically Crimea several times, including Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Yevpatoria, & Balaklava (I have family that live in Crimea and elsewhere in Ukraine). I was even invited as a guest once to attend the Russian Navy celebrations during Navy Day in Sevastopol, where Russian patriotism was in full display. Even though Crimea is within Ukraine's territorial boundary, when I visited I always felt that I had entered Russian territory, the historic ties are very strong. Still, Russia's heavy-handed approach to this situation will likely harm them in the long run - c'mon, this is 2014 not 1938 or 1968! Unfortunately, before long (pending response from the West) they will most likely move to enter other areas of Russian-speaking Ukraine including the Donbass, Kharkiv region and maybe Odessa also, no matter what agreements they may have signed. Too bad, my wife and daughter were planning a family visit this summer to Ukraine - already purchased flight tickets - but the outlook for a peaceful resolution by then is not good. I wonder if President Putin will reimburse my costs? Keith
  9. Amazing job Rod, it does look like the real deal! :thumbsup:/> I spent a fantastic day at the Poltava Museum in August 2010. Keith
