K5054NZ
G'day all So what's this one like? I may be about to get one via swap, I'd just like to know what I'm in for.
CraigSargent
As Homer would say "run away"... If you can get one, the Revell kit is FAR superior, albeit a two seater as opposed to Airfix's single seater.
Yellowbelly
It's OK from a fit perspective but no cockpit detail (as usual). Good for kids to get them into modeling but serious modelers look elsewhere. Yellowbelly

Stuart Porteous
No. Next question ? Seriously, it looks like a Eurofighter (more or less) buts that's as far as it goes. At the time it was tooled there was very little information about so most of the details are missing or guessed. Pic of mine attached - poor quality pic of an indifferent kit I'm afraid. Straightforward build though, provided you don't try to do a Rolls-Royce job on it. Stuart. Edited December 8, 2005 by Stuart Porteous
K5054NZ
Thanks guys, consider me warned...I'd love to get a Revell or Italeri two-seater, but at the mo I'm trying to flog off my Italeri F-51D and this guy is thinking about it. I mean, swapping an OOP kit of a modern jet for an Italeri WW2 fighter...its a good deal, right?
Dave Fleming
it's OK-ish - for a 1992 Airfix kit, it's better than earlier EFA kits (Revell, ESCI, Italeri maybe) but the new Revell kit kicks it's bottom
Jonathan Mock
it's OK-ish - for a 1992 Airfix kit, it's better than earlier EFA kits (Revell, ESCI, Italeri maybe) but the new Revell kit kicks it's bottom It was actually released in December 1990 - I remember it well because I bought one from the Bath Model centre while doing some Christmas shopping! harrierpilot
it's not toooo bad, but it needs a lot of improvement to get it to looooook like a Eurofighter, but both the Italeri and Revell ones are far superior and are the better choices. better decals, better details, better fit, mainly better all round, but the Airfix one has more variety
K5054NZ
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I doubt I'll actually be able to get the Airfix one now, so I'll start looking for the Revell and Italeri versions.
faassen
I've build the Airfirx Eurofighter too. It needs a lot of work and I used the Italeri as a guide. It has also incorrect fuel tanks. But good A-A stores! You need reshaping around the intake. I used the Itaeri exhausts for this kit. The later Airfrix variant has a very good decalsheet though! With prototypes of the two german, two italian and the brittish example!! HTH Dick
MoFo
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I doubt I'll actually be able to get the Airfix one now, so I'll start looking for the Revell and Italeri versions. Skip the Italeri kit. In all honesty, the only 1/72 Eurofighter worth buying is the new Revell Germany kit. It's actually the best Eurofighter kit available in ANY scale. And if you wait a couple of months, the single seater will be released.
K5054NZ
Revell it is! I must say though that, unlike most modern jets, I actually prefer the two seater. Just the shape. Thanks a bunch!
