karlwb
Hi Simple question - what is lacquer thinner? I'm familiar with most thinners but don't know this one, what type of paint is it intended to thin? I live in the UK, do you have know any UK brand names? Sorry to sound a bit vague. :P Karl
MoFo
Errr... it's used to thin lacquers. Lacquer thinner. :P Also good for thinning any oil based paint, really. IIRC the popular term in the UK is cellulose thinner.
Drew T.
It's great for cleaning paint brushes and airbrushes, since it's stronger than regular mineral spirits or enamel paint thinner. Paint thinned with lacquer thinner also dries faster than with enamel thinner. I don't know about any brand names. Any lacquer thinner you get at the hardware store or paint store should work fine. JohnG
fumes are extra strong though. but it works really well.
karlwb
Right, cellulose thiners - doesn't celly thinners only work on cellulose paints, last time I tried it on oil based paint it had no effect on it. I'll give it another try..
peebeep
Cellulose thinners work great for thinning enamels, the pigment is dispersed to a greater extent by the 'hot' thinners. Enamel pigment tends to be 'clumpy' in any case, so cellulose is a great help in this respect. It will also let you recover paint brushes which would only otherwise be fit for the bin.
