F-16XL single and twin seater wing drawings

Recommended Posts

their shape compares quite good to the published drawings I have.

Beware. Drawings (especially XL drawings) often lie. The Attic kit is a dog. Compare it to photos, not plans. You'll see what a dog it is.

Any of you guys know a source for good scale drawings with engravings and rivet representation?

Nuno,

There are several good F-16XL conversion articles that you can get by Googling F-16XL 1/48 (and 1/72, and 1/32). Here's and example: http://www.internetmodeler.com/2003/august...tion/F-16XL.htm . And here's another - a walkaround: http://web.mac.com/ryanmecham/Site_2/F-16XL_Walk_Around.html

There was an article in the Fall 1984 IPMS/USA Quarterly Keith Svendsen on correcting the Monogram 72nd scale kit - the article included some good drawings. Unfortunately I can't find the web page where I downloaded the article, and the copy that I thought I had turned out to be thumbnails... I thought I got it from Habu2's site, but can't find it. A couple of the article's pages are shown here: http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-569-start-15.html

Hopefully someone here can link to the article.

Hey guys - while finding references I came across this image grat image:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/G...XL-2/1445630/L/

May I ask - why is there a GE logo in the engine cover? All my images show the double seater F-16 with the standard PW engine, and that also looks to be the small NSI intake

Any hints please?

THANKS!

The two XL's were both NSI intakes, However the 2seat was fitted with the GE F-110 Engine...

The first F-16C's that had the GE Engine also had the NSI Intake.

True for F-16XL 1, but XL 2 later received a big mouth intake. The XL 2 big mouth intake was not an MCID, but an LNSI/Large Normal Shock Inlet.

When did XL2 get that mod and was anything else modded at that time too?

Hey guys! I am amazed! Many thanks for all these excellent replies! It is an incredible sensation to have such a huge group of friends around and have so many data to study in just 24 hours!. :bandhead2: Thank you for your care!

I am starting my Summer vacations today! This last 12 month was severely complicated with all this market turbulence and made me have to work extremelly hard until very late hours for many days. The ones I care now really deserve my company and I too miss immensly some more minutes with them.

English is not my first language and too many times I lack the proper vocabularies to express my thoughts and feelings. But if I can make a promise and a compromise for this huge amount of interest and shared knowledge, I truly hope I can return to this topic in the beginning of September to show the first advances in this kit.

Many thanks to you all for your care! Wish we were all neighbours as beers would be tonight in my account only. :)

Gentlemen, I'm back from my Sunny Holidays! :D

Time to go back to the bench!

With the donor parts already identified I just need to place another question:

I am thinking about adding a Black Box F-16B cockpit to the twin seater. This set:

http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/ISL/...isl_bb48013.htm

The question - is it nowadays colectible or hard to find? Can't locate it in the shops, so is it rare?

Because if it is, I'll use the Kinetic parts for the D, that in fact are very very very good! The sole issue is the back seater, but I can use the "D" parts to upgrade a Greek Hasegawa Falcon I have (that has a B cockpit) and use the Hasegawa B panel in the Attic model. Pretty easy (or confusing :P  :) )

Decisions, decisions, decisions, ......... hummmmmmmm............................

(and BTW - the Attic parts are already cleaned - time to unwarp them )
