  1. Ha, that sounds a lot like me. I have a friend who calls me "grumpy old man". She has done so ever since my early twenties.
  2. I don't dispute that, all I did was answer to the question what was wrong with that Hasegawa and HB kits, I didn't call it a POS kit or anything. I have a number of them and enjoyed and still enjoy building them. All I said was that the kit is innacurate. Why that was interpreted as weilding a pitchfork I don't know. I don't plan on getting rid of any of my Tomcat kits (Hasegawa, Italeri, HobbyBoss, Monogram), I plan on adding to the collection with the Tamiya and AMK kits. Because all those kits give me a different building experience and that is what I draw enjoyment out of.
  3. Ok, I had assumed that it was clear that I was talking about dimensions, shape and detail. This is a silly argument. "It has two wings, so ha, it is not litteraly wrong, cuz that would mean it would have to have one or three wings." I am not bashing hobby boss, I have lots and lots and lots of their kits. That does not change the fact that their F-14 is very inaccurate.
  4. Well, the Hasegawakit is pretty long in the tooth now. It's not exactely a shake and bake kit and to bring it to the level of detail that the Tamiya kit will likely offer it needs a load of after market stuff. The HB Tomcat on the other hand is so inaccurate it's not even funny anymore. There is litteraly nothing in that kit that is accurate. And I really mean litteraly. Some things are just a little bit wrong, but most stuff is really wrong. Granted, I am obsessed with the Tomcat so it bothers me a lot. I mean, even the horizontal stabs are completely wrong in shape. It's basically as if som
  5. No way! First you bring news of the AMK F-14 and now this... I always knew you were real Santa!
  6. "That should clean up nicely" "Honey? Where is the first aid kit?"
  7. Ah, seal plates, that's what they are called. Thanks guys, I apreciate your replies :)
  8. Hello everybody, I have a question about an odd thing I have noticed about TF30 exhausts on F-14As, as far as I can tell only on early aircraft. I first noticed this when looking at pictures of very early VF-1 F-14s. At first I thought that there was a short lived first version of the exhaust which was later replaced with the commonly known exhaust. But as it turns out that is not the case. It seems that sometimes parts of the exhaust were left off. Not just on the ground, but also in flight. I don't want to post images directly here as they are not mine, but I will post the links to the
  9. I do, every time I try to do rivets in a straight line
  10. Hi, Eduard has some stuff for the Revell G6, undercarriage legs, wheels, exhaust stacks, engine set (including the armament and covers) and a cockpit, all listed as in stock. I hope they will do the same for the G10, I am still a bit disapointed that they didn't make a brassin engine for their fw-190s :)
  11. Hi, no, not sure at all, it's just a guess. Partially because of the renders, those have been made in some kind of 3D modeling programm. Also the pictures in the reviews show some odd steps in areas that should be straight, almost like the layers you can see in some rapid prototyped parts. But they are so obvious that it rather looks like something went wrong there. But I'd be willing (almost) to bet that a lot of the recent brassin stuff has been done by producing masters via rapid prototyping. I have a set of the Mig-29 wheels by eduard, they definately look, well, manufactured. Might be m
  12. Haha, those are axactely the ones I decided for, just have to put some money on paypal. They look awesome and I prefer their look over the aires ones. :)
  13. I wanted to get two of those for an F-14D build and did some research on the product. Now, on the eduard site, you will find nice renders, those show beautiful detail and the feathers look correct. The reviews with pictures however tell a different story. Here you can see that the detail of the feathers is not like it is in the renders, The edge of the feathers does not feature the, I believe it was called pressformed doubler? Anyways, it's not there. A bigger problem however is, that the nozzle looks like it is mirrored, as in, the feathers overlap on the wrong side. On the real thing,
  14. Now the price went down to 111.58
  15. So I spotted the new Revell 109 on amazon... http://www.amazon.com/Revell-04665-Messerschmitt-BF109-G-6/dp/B0073XSVVW
  16. I started writing a song. Or rather I started writing lyrics to a Johnny Cash song. Or rather I started mutilating the Lyrics of one of his songs (Solitary man). I guess he doesn't deserve this to be done to his song, but it's quite fun. I'll post it once it's done and once I get the image of him rotating in his grave out of my head...
  17. I'm not the one making assumptions about people and questiong their skills just for the sake of insulting people, not sure how that makes me the one with the attitude problem. But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.
  18. Whining... I didn't complain after the first screwed canopy. Not after the second, third, fourth. I complained after the tenth. In a row. Yes, I have that sense of entitlement, if they offer me a product for a price and I buy it, I expect what was offered. Just like my clients do from me. I did contact them, that is not the issue. And quite frankly, the issue for me is not even about the damn kits anymore, it is that attitude of yours. You don't know jack about me, yet make asumptions. This is the kind of behaviour I expect when I play BF3. The dig at my ego, the problem is why you feel the n
  19. I'm sorry what? If I shell out 20 Bucks for a Revell kit, I am not expecting it to be Tamiya quality or filled with Aires AM, but I damn well expect it to include what was promised. Exceptionally high standards? Really? Let me understand this, me expecting to NOT being sold a kit (or rather several) with broken and deformed canopies is an exceptionally high standard and a lack of skill on my part? Do you even read what you write? I didn't complain about the fact that the canopies of the Revell eurofighters are the wrong shape to begin with or that they weren't crystal clear or had no scale th
  20. Ah yes, Tomcats, my first and greatest love. I'd say half my stash are F-14s :)
  21. Those are nice builds for sure. I'mnot slamming the kit, I like it and have a few of them. I snapped a coupple of pictures and made a photobucket account to explain what I mean (sorry for the bad quality). First the rear fuselages. Left Italeri, right Revell. The Italeri fuselage has the distinct curve, the Revell is much more straight. http://s1327.beta.photobucket.com/user/hopsefloh/media/rearfuse_zpsa628b044.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 Here the vertical stabs, the Italeri put on top of the revell to show the difference. http://s1327.beta.photobucket.com/user/hopsefloh/media/hstab_zpsa18c9cc
  22. Yes, they are, sorry, I worded that a bit awkwardly, I should not have refered to it as both RoG and Revell but stick to one. What I meant is that the Revell kit is inferior in shape and general outline to the italeri kit, but superior in detailing.
  23. Be carefull with the RoG F/A-18F, the kit has some shape problems. The spine is to high and not wide enough at the canopy and the rear fuselage is not rounded enough when viewed from the top (This of course also affects the vertical stabs). The italeri kit is more accurate in those aspects. However, surface Detail and Detail in general is much nicer in the Revell Super Hornet.
  24. Thanks for the responses everyone. I have cooled down a bit. I'll definately try to get the parts from them, I'll take pictures of them too of course. We'll see. I'll build the kits, worst case scenario would be to try and salvage the parts to make masters for VAC forming replacements. A chance to gather some experience in VAC forming I guess.
  25. I have had nothing but problems with Revell kits. The canopies to be precise. I have 4 72nd scale F-4Fs, 4 72nd scale Tornados, 2 72nd scale Ef-2000, 2 48th scale EF-2000 and one 32nd scale EF-2000. And all of them have useless canopies. The Tornados and Phantoms have canopies that look like translucent Jam, I guess the moulds are on their way out. They all look alike, no way rescueing them. The 72ns scale Eurofighters have Canopies that have not been fully injected or molded, frontparts are missing a good 10%. The 48scale EF 2000 Twin seater also has a canopy that is not fully molded, the
