  1. Arnaud - you are not wrong.... the pieces sat scattered around look ok, and test fitting them together works (to a point) but the one thing I have not attempted is test fitting them into the actual holes ;-)... plan is to paint en masse then build the individual abys and then attempt to add them to the fuselage..... fingers corssed the painting will start this weekend.....
  2. well some photos.... actual photos of actual progres...nothing interesting - just my boxing (need to do the roofs but its a start). As i have said they will be left blank - purely cos you wont see them much (and I am too lazy ;-)).....
  3. thanks Holmes.... will do more I know but just slow......
  4. this caught my eye too as i am in the middle of adding detail to the Prowler... would love mor einfo on how you did the scratchbuild wingfold on the S3 - I am still tempted to try it on the Prowler but just not confident (is it just a matter of building the wings, cutting appropriately and then adding the detail.......
  5. oohhhh very nice... built a 1.72 version many moons ago (like 25 years I guess) and would love to add one to the stash...
  6. holy smoke.. makes my efforts at building an aircraft undergoing maintenance look pitiful... will be back to pick out more detail......
  7. modelling has not been done the last week really - but did some last night... rewored te "birdcage" door as it looked too heavy. replaced the original plastic with copper sheet - will add a 2nd piece of copper sheet to make the "lip".... also not sure on the inerior housing - built a box but doesnt look right.... will maybe do the side bulkheads built into the fuselage halves already and the front/back bulkheads (and the top) as separate pieces
  8. thanks for that - i need to get round to doing some more..... little bit lacking in motivation at the moment......
  9. my understanding is that tehy were standard on this boxing - i got mine from ebay and they were the only canopies it came with... the only real problem is that the front canopy is also tinted where it shuldnt be.... unless i can source a new copy then I am stuck with it.....
  10. cheers guys... much appreciated... am still looking at photos of the radar unit and wondering...... saw a great photo of a Prowler in maintenance with a guy sat on the front of the canopy, legs astride the refueling probe....... nose up with a bit of the radar showing... the good thing with the radar is I could do it once the fuse is buttoned up.... so dont need to decide now
  11. photos of where i left it before hols need to do a second bank of equipment plus the wiring (and some tidy up on the edges)
  12. all, can I request some info on the EA-6B please. The version I am building (1/72 Hase kit from years & yearsago) has a bulge on the extendable equipment platform (the unit that drops down from the underside rear of the wings, whereas when I look at photos on here all (or the vast majoity) have a fin. Can someone confirm 1) when the fin replaced the bulge (was there ever a bulge) 2) what the fin denotes in terms of mark or ICAP thing 3) any other changes between a plane with a bulge and one with a fin I would need to conside (so fuselage changes) I have a low-viz set of decals I want t
  13. have quite a few references now so am set from that side (ie generic photos, some detail etc)... however any help on engine maintenance for the helldiver greatly received - cant seem to find evidence of any panels etc.... also does anyone know if the Vector R2600 radial engine (1/72 scale) will fit in the Matchbox Helldiver kit? one area I wont be able to scratchbuild is the rear of the engine so will have to source that, seems to be the best option (and relatively cheap @ £5 for the engine). its at the bottom of http://www.neomega-resin.com/vector/american.htm if you want to look at what
  14. no photos at the moment but 2nd electronics bay complete and now opened the drop-down bay that is under the fuselage (just forward of the arrestor gear. This one has a cage-like structure and tnhen the electronics mounted in that. Have some decent resources so may actually look like the real thing!. Once that is done I need to box in the hole into which it fits and also the arrestor housing - shold all be one unit I think (or rather they are so close together I will build them as one unit) and then I could well be moving into the realms of paint....... more photos when I have made a bit of pr
  15. guys.. am after something specific (if possible).... looking for photos of VAQ-137 158801 (nose number 05). I have the SuperScale low-viz set and this one seems to have very strange lettering on the tail. What I can't find is any photos of the specific aircraft.. if not then dont worry I wil follow the instrcutions.
  16. thanks for the comments and link - think i have seen that lot but will have a look for more detail i can add (wheel wells etc need work)... ok - started on electronics bay #2 - this one on the upper surface behind the cockpit. Have the major structures in place and some trunking, next will be smaller wire to "busy it up" Have included photos of the holes i have made (the one with the wing includes the RAT hole in the wing surface too)
  17. thats what i was thinking - gonna be easier to tidy up after.. with the Prowler, the nose only comes off with major maintenance so it just tips up slightly so you dont see so much of the radar... will add it to the list ;-)
  18. ok, declaring bay complete (apart from paint) so now have RAT and 1 bay done ready to paint....... next is to work out the next bay (think I have 2 more major ones but SWMBO reckons I should do the radar in the nose too....hmmmmmm) one question - how should i paint the bays? put them in place and then paint or paint all the sub-assemblies then put em in place then touch them up? any thoughts much appreciated.. big photo (small one is roughly real size)
  19. managed to get some more work done.. opened up the next panel (going to leave painting of all the interior bits until they are all done as they are all similar colours)... so new door (least it has some interior detail now).... and the electronics....
  20. looking neat Honza....
  21. heres where it is as of this afternoon...... need to add a little more to the floor but i think the size will limit what is put in (and the VERY small pic is actual size)
  22. thanks for that - will have at least 1 panel open (one of the cheek ones at least). want to do one of the bays behind the cockpit but the panel lines on the kit dont match the pictures so will have to work that out, plus the one on the underside (aft of the wings) that drops down. as for the wings... AM folded ones are too expensive (unless someone has a spare set) so if i do opt to fold em then it will have to be fully scratch - but hey, lets see how the avionics go
  23. thanks for that.... trying to add some more detail but as it is sooooo small it will be limited
  24. thanks for the comments... toned down a little - a layer of KLEAR and she is done.... quite happy with it in relation to where its started... on to the next piece of work.. I present the start of the Garret Ram Air Turbine (RAT)....... and my attempt to be neater (and I am glad I bought an over sized ruler... you would think this was small otherwise)
  25. all a bit boring grey & black at the moment.... but now the base is on I can KLEAR it then add the detail in oil......
