  1. what a bad kit... I don't want to repeat all the things, but this is a bad kit in respect of research, engineering and buildability. Nose: CWS Cockpit: Neomega Pipes: Barracuda Eduard color P/E (missiles), P/E (FOD, some small parts) Decals: Begemot wheels: Armory Color: Akan Original: 146. Fighter Regiment (Guards) of 8. Air Army, Vasikov (Ukraine) 1986 (the plane is so cool, it creates shadows to the clouds.....)
  2. Of course not! Wheels should be available from AM (front wheels same as MiG-29), doors with bulges must be scratched, I'm afrait.

  4. He mentioned the CW nose. With this it's possible, I'd say, at least MUCH better than Trumpy's BN. The BN is closer to M than to MF, depending on your desired level of accuracy you have to add/modify some smaller things. Don't forget the nose wheels!
  5. I think it's possible. As I just survived the f"§$%&g MiG-25 from KH with a lot of resin, I'm not scared about this. But first I need to build something easy...
  6. Today I received the brand-new MiG-29A - wow, what a HUGE box! First look is not bad! When I heart of this kit, my concern was to sell the Zactoman resin parts for some bucks on evilbay. Good news: Not necessary! I tried also to insert the wonderful CWS cockpit, with some surgery it should work (Trumpy pit is narrower). Trumpy's panel lines seems to be mostly fantasy, nevertheless very good looking. Here some comparisons between Zacto and Trumpy. And yes, Chris - great job!
  7. #3 has been answered: yes, black (in front of the IR-tracker) I guess, the pic is from end of 70's, definately not from 89. It looks like a late M or early MF (the transition was fluent) as it could have the canopy strut and the modified front part of the bottom fin (both is not very clear on the pic) EDIT: the rudder hinge is M, so it's all unclear...
  8. IMHO this kit is undervalued. Interesting subject, easy to build, good level of details - it was a fun! Weak points are the interior (more or less fictitious) and the Russian decals (black outline instead of blue). I used the following AM stuff: - Seats: Quickboost - PE (FOD, wipers): Brengun - Decals: Begemot Color by Akan. The copter was seen in September 1991 as a part of 830th Ship-based Antisubmarine Helicopter Regiment in Severomorsk-2 Hope you like it, I do...
  9. I know, also Lindenhill have some nice. The GDR sheet is (for me!) not useful as it has the colorful "Farewell" plane only. The KH stencils are mostly not correct but IMHO on a dark camouflaged plane very important. A sheet with Polish stencils will come soon (https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/LDS48010) maybe it helps (might not be readable, I guess). But I like Begemot from quality and research.
  10. yes, it is. For instance, I really like the fine surface details. For sure it can be build as a nice model (and I will build it!) But again (like MiG-25) much more would be possible.
  11. I got the kit 2 weeks ago and after some days I've put it into the shelf. There are a lot of mistakes may be easy to correct (lots of instruction errors, decals, variants, armament...), the worst thing I guess is the intake cone. Hope aftermarket will help soon, also with good decals (there are some for Polish and Russian) - @Kotey: Any plans...? East German Navy? Stencils?
  12. the plain ones are correct. Spoked for later versions (ML). Note that the Trumpy front gear is wrong as it is for ML and later (steering wrong). There were some discussions here in the past.
  13. Most of them got the emerald/turquoise in the 80s. I can confirm it at least for East Germany but I think others did it as well.
  14. Sounds a touch exotic, doesn't it? For a decal set it should be IMHO a bit more typical, i.e. yellow and/or light gray. Just my 2 €ct.
  15. Thank you for the information. The description for MiG-21 sealants (48-058) does not fit to the item. Hope it's not really pink! This is ok for Mig-31 but I've never seen it on 21
  16. the mirror came with the MF, also the M had no from factory. BUT... the MF canopy fits to R and M (w/o heating), so there were also this version (for R I have no pic) as well as a canopy with mirror (better: periscope) cutout but only a metal sheet to close the hole (as seen on East-German M). Remember: There's NOTHING impossible on Russian aircraft... For 1968 plane, I guess, w/o would be correct, the "retrofit" came later. EDIT: I found a Polish R:
  17. then blue-gray may be your choice, dashboard black: Eduard's version is not bad IMHO:
  18. depends on time and user. originally delivered in blue-gray, some users changed later to the infamous turquois. What country you want to build (and please don't use the GDR markings from the kit...totally wrong!)?
  19. It seems my source was not correct, sorry for the confusion.
  20. The known CAD files are quite old (IIRC they were first published years ago when the mysterious Mr Song was working for Trumpeter), the scan was made this year. I'm full of hope!
