  1. Lynn Collins was definitely the best part of this movie. I saw it yesterday and, being my first 3D experience, wasn't very impressed. I would have liked it much better on a regular screen I'm sure. I thought that the 3D effects and glasses just detracted from the whole experience.
  2. Great job so far, Ian! I have one of these old Revell kits waiting in the wings and your work is inspiring me to get going on it. Looking forward to your next updates! Cheers, BD
  3. Well, my first ever camo job with an airbrush came out pretty good. There's a couple small areas that need to be touched up but, overall, I'm pretty happy.
  4. Hi Pete, I'm planning to finish the Lanc this week. I want to get it to Sam as soon as possible (if he will accept it) as he is not well. I am doing the final mask and paint for camo this weekend. I am itching to get back to the Sabre and am shooting for next weekend to resume the build. Thanks for asking! (Now that I am retired I don't know how I found time for a full-time job.) BD
  5. Excellent Heinkel!! That's a big bird.
  6. Great tips, everyone. Many thanks!
  7. That looks like some pretty decent cockpit detail. I will follow with interest as I am planning a G1 Nightfighter build later this year. Great work so far. BD
  8. Thanks, Mike. I went from restoring the paint job on my 1/72nd Lanc to fabricating another wingtip skin on the real thing over at the Cdn. Historical Aircraft Association hanger tonight. FM212 is slowly starting to take shape again. Very inspiring stuff.
  9. This looks much better! Camo tomorrow.
  10. Nice tribute to the Liberty Belle! I had a ride scheduled in the Yankee Lady the week after Belle crashed. That's all everyone was talking about as we boarded. Great job! BD
  11. Yeah, I know...rookie mistake. My first time ever using an airbrush and I really didn't know what to look for. What I thought was a mini-disaster turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Before I resorted to the Easy-Off treatment, I thought I would try using a 2400 grit sanding pad on the painted areas and re-paint a small area. When I started sanding I immediately liked what I saw.....it gave the flat black a nice weathered look, something I had wondered how I was going to achieve. And, after I re-sprayed one of the wings, I couldn't tell where I had painted before. I am so relieved. Les

  13. Bonjour Laurent, That is a very interesting comparison. Thanks for posting the link. BTW, you wouldn't happen to be a guitar player as well as a modeller would you? BD
  14. Thanks, Richard. I'm just sitting here having a coffee and planning my next move. First step, to Walmarts for some Easy-Off. I appreciate your comments. BD
  15. Thanks. I will probably just do the whole thing with a toothbrush. It's not that big an area. BD
  16. Easy Off? Whodathunkit? Thanks for the advice, Dave.
  17. Here's the latest "action" shot. DOH! is right.

    Help!

Due to my inexperience with airbrushes and a needle that wasn't properly seated (again, my fault), I laid down way too much paint on the underside of my 1/72nd Lancaster. As soon as I realized my mistake, I compounded the error by trying to sop up the extra paint (MM enamel) with shop towels. Now I have a big mess to clean up before I start over. Any suggestions on how to proceed from here? Here is the photo evidence of my rookie mistakes.
  19. Well, Mike whatever you got must be contagious coz I effed up the paint job on my Lanc build today too.
  20. Well, I masked the whole Lanc today to get ready for paint, planning to do the flat black underside first, and had a minor disaster with my airbrush. I guess the needle wasn't fully seated and it blasted paint all over the place. I feel like such a rookie coz I carried on and laid down way too much paint. So, now I have to wipe it all down, sand the excess off and start over. Gawd, what a dolt.
  21. That's exactly what I am going to be using. Now I'm really worried. Did you do a primer coat?
  22. Holy crap. Mike! That really stinks. What brand/type of paint were you using?
  23. Love it! One of my favourite a/c. Great job!
  24. You've got my attention. Great job so far. Looking forward to following your build. BD
