  1. I've used MOdel Master dark sea blue for the Grumman Panther build on Britmodeler, and for the Revell Bearcat. I did flat finish blue and then sealed it after decals and weathering with very thin semigloss clear, for a slight sheen. I like this paint - it sprays well when thinned about 50-50 .
  2. Good question, helpful answer-- will be getting one of these sometime, to round out a collection of grumman's Cats- just finished the Hobbyboss 1/72 F9F-2Pantqher, ,posted over onl Britmodeler
  3. Helpful--appreciate the review !
  4. Looking very nice, panel lines very distinct--some pics I've seen show a light grey faded color kind of randomly spread around, over the helo green, with small patches of fresher helo green on rivets and latches.
  5. My mistake -- the two tone gray is an A model, not a D.
  6. Hi - IsraDecal has a set that includes decals for Israeli Apaches, and some U.S. AH-64D's, plus markings for that unique two tone gray D. Note the incredible number of written stencils ! Don't remember where I got this one - somewhere on the internet.
  7. Hi- I see from your posts that you are very familiar with the AH-64. I found your photo on Airfighters.com and the link to the photo of the inner structure of the sugar scoop. These are great references ! Thanks -- I'm toying with the idea of scratchbuilding these for my Hasegawa project. Don't know if I have the patience, with a bunch of other projects waiting. Here's another pic from my file -- how about that shark mouth, that wraps all the way around the underside. The guys told me that they couldn't identify the exact color - they said they just used what ever gray was availab
  8. Here's one pic of Aaron and his Apache - I'll try to get some more into Photobucket and post them. Notice the upward pointed exhausts and the "clothesline" aerial on the right side of the tail boom.
  9. Hi -- happened on your posting tonight- Regarding the Apache pilot from your rival HS wrestling team- I was privileged to meet him last year. He was stationed at Fort Drum and flew with my great nephew, also an Apache pilot. They teamed up to fly their Apache down to Rochester, to show off thei helicopter to me. They knew I'm a modeler and aviation buff, and that I was crazy wanting to see an Apache. I was given a walkaround tour and got to sit in the thing! Then we all went to lunch and talked flying. These guys were best friends, and my nephew is heartbroken about his friends death in Af
  10. Good point- so they might get retrofitted to earlier Apaches. -- I'd like to put this antenna on the Hasegawa modell , because it looks neat,. But I have only seen photos of it on tithe newest version of the AH-64 D, and the Hasegawa kit is an early version D.
  11. Am working on Hasegawa's 1/48 AH-64D - Beautiful kit. A PE "clothesline antenna" is included in the kit. Have seen photos of these on the newest D model Apaches - it's a long rod attached to the right side of the tail boom. Anyone know when these were added? Is it appropriate for this kit OOB? Or would other changes be needed along with this antenna? [/img]http://s1312.photobucket.com/user/Donn1238/media/IMG_2359_zpsd102c3fb.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0
