  1. The main issue that is relevant as far as kit parts are concerned is the canopy. MS often had one with a central frame as included in the Trumpeter MF but not afaik the M kit. So the MF is recommended for conversion to MS. You’ll also need to change some panel lines and antennae on the nose as well as the hinge on the rudder. MS has only one piston. No kit includes this currently. btw, forget about the Esci kit, it’s basically a toy compared to trumpeter. Jon Bryon did a great M build where he points out the issues found in the trumpeter kit still. If you already have the
  2. While on the topic of colorful Chinese jets: Those Sudanese JL-9/FTC-2000 markings looks especially cool imo
  3. How about a sheet for the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV? I recently got my hands on Caracal‘s MQ-9 Reaper UAV sheet and figured with Clear Prop (and a bunch of other companies) releasing the Bayraktar TB2 in all three major scales but usually with only Ukrainian Air Force (in case of Clear Prop) markings - or often without any decals at all - it would be cool to have a sheet dedicated to this hugely relevant type. See here for a up-to-date list of operators: https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2021/09/an-international-export-success-global.html Below a bit of inspiration from di
  4. Hi all, I am selling of my collection of decals from Caracal on my eBay page, including some rare OOP sheets such as YF-23 and F-117 in 1/48 and Neptune and C-54 in 1/72. While based in Germany, if you reach out I’ll happily post worldwide. On top of that, you get to take advantage of the cheap euro 😉 Thanks for looking, David F-117 https://www.ebay.de/itm/125398046506 C-45: https://www.ebay.de/itm/125398016197 YF-23: https://www.ebay.de/itm/125398051165 C-54: https://www.ebay.de/itm/125398036494 Neptune: https://www.eba
  5. Looking for this sheet, also interested if already started: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/isradecal-studio-iaf-84-middle-east-f-5-tiger-ii--980239
  6. Looking for the 1/48 scale Ka-50 kit, Revell or Italeri boxing is fine. Happy to pay very decent price for it, as well as for shipping from any location worldwide. Thanks! EDIT: Found it
  7. Since Caracal has a reputation for considering subjects that no one else would ever look at (i.e. Do-228, Learjet), how about a sheet on the C-23A/ Short 330? There is an 1/144 eastern express kit and there used to be a 1/72 scale resin kit (although not really available now). The kit and aftermarket currently only offer civilian liveries, but the type did see service with the USAF and Army, especially in Europe, in the 1980s. Below a selection of the different schemes seen over time.
  8. Not sure if this one is decided yet, but given recent history a Afghan Air Force C-130 would be very interesting to have. AFAIK there is no decal option so far. Interesting piece on the topic here: https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/pilots-detail-chaotic-collapse-afghan-air-force-2021-12-29/
  9. There are a few cool Middle Eastern schemes that have not been done before. The all-grey Libyan scheme has never been done before, saw action in 2011 arab spring fighting. Pakistan Air Force had C-130s in up to 6 different schemes over the years, here are two examples that have never been done. The Royal Saudi Air Force flew C-130s in natural metal/white colors in the early years, again a rare scheme. The Saudi ‚mid-life‘ scheme would also be cool, from back when the national markings were not toned down yet. See attached image of an aerial refueling operation in the 1980s.
  10. Hi all, I am trying to airbrush a yellow cowling on a P47, using Tamiya XF03 1:1 thinned with Mr Color leveling thinner, on top of a coat of Mr Surfacer 1500. The same combination works excellently on a bottle of Tamiya green I recently bought. Pressure was between 10-20 PSI, I have tried the lower and higher ends with no effect. But with this bottle of yellow, there are flakes or small bits of paint that do not dissolve, be it in the mixing cup or during airbrushing, resulting in a rough, splattered finish. No idea what I am doing wrong here, except for the fact
  11. Cheers, that makes it a lot clearer. I assume that the guns in the nose are always the giveaway? If so, there is a LOT of mislabeled NJ-21s online. Below should then be a Jastreb trainer, right? Even books by Serbs on this topic have this one labelled as Galeb. I can see how, say a Libyan Galeb, clearly does not have guns.
  12. Does anyone know the difference between these two? Look the same to me, but there are different kits around.
  13. Another one poped up on ebay, this one still sealed: https://www.ebay.de/itm/RARE-A-26A-B-26K-1-48-Conversion-Cutting-Edge-Modelworks-CEC48039/124561797847?hash=item1d007632d7:g:hKAAAOSwXQJgHlm4
  14. The new kitty hawk kit. From the box one can only build the Soviet Su-17M3 poweredby the Al-21 engine. The export Su-22M3, used by e.g. Peru, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, North&South Yemen, has the R-29 engine. This leads to a tail section with slightly larger diameter, different air scoop placement and a slightly more ‚rectangular‘ fin.
  15. Su-22M3 tailpiece and fin in 1/48
  16. Looking to buy either one or both of the Libyan or Yemeni decals options from the two eduard su-22 kits in 1/48 scale. Will also buy the full kits. If anyone has those decals left over, I will gladly buy them. Kind regards
  17. But why are there MLs without it ? MF was before ML,wasent it?
  18. But if the frame is supposed to be there, why are there photos of MLs without it ? Maybe those ones were replacements ? It's really strange because even the MS has the frame, why should a ML be lacking it.
  19. Hi, I'm building trumpeters MiG-23ML right now and while searching for a camo scheme, I found some migs with a central frame accross the canopy hood and some without one.Trumpeter meanwhile only included a hood with the frame. Whats the matter with this ? Here is a 23 without it: http://www.arcair.com/awa01/601-700/awa645-MiG-23-Brown/00.shtm Libyan and syrian ones are missing it as well. Could it have something to do with export versions ? Best regards David
  20. This one https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/LH72019 Or This one http://ipms-warszawa.pl/iraqi-fighters-linden-hill-decals/ strange. I have a link here, on one of the pictures there ist the mig 23 with the bomb in question.
  21. Interesting. But what kind if bomb could be the one in the picture ? The caption in the book 'Iraqi Fighters' reads FAB-250ShN but you said this is impossible in 1980. Another source tells that "A STRING OF BOMBS DROPPED BY THE LEADING MIG-23BN FELL ON THE TARMAC IN FRONT OF THE IRANIAN AIRCRAFT INDUSTRIES FACILITY..." It seems unlikely that a whole string of FAB-250s was used to strike a target 320 miles inside iran when most of the hardpoints were occupied by droptanks, doesen't it ?
  22. Are they both parachute-retarded ? I'm currently researching about bombs used by the Iraqi air force on 22 september 1980 in the opening strikes against Iran, and the bombs used are supossed to be ShNs but look kind of like an earlier variant, not like the OFAB(?)-250ShN you linked. There seems to be an extension on a normal FAB-250 M54 (I,m orienting on MiG 23 BN on this decal sheet by linden hill). Best Regards David
  23. Hi, is there any external difference between the normal FAB-250 bomb and the parachute-retarded FAB-250ShN ? I didn't find anything about this on the internet so I hope some of the experts can help me. Best regards David
