Today is a good day. <INSERT THE HAPPIEST EMOTICON YOU'VE EVER SEEN> And grizzly is right about the size. Good discussion of this over at Starshipmodeler.com forums.

If any of you are Star Wars fans, than I encourage you to visit this page for a detailed build of the Salzo X-Wing (sometimes known as the Captain Cardboard X-Wing). It's the biggest and best model I own. Pretty darn cool online build follows: Greg's X-Wing Online Build Here's some great finished pics.

You killed me with the Rocky Horror reference! Hot water is your best bet. I tried to use a blow dryer, but felt that it was not easy to work with.

Great kit... well worth the price.

Only a couple more weeks to go for your contest entries too! http://www.starshipmodeler.com/contest/contest.cfm

Here is the cockpit of the original kit. As you can see... three seats, small cockpit tub and no pipes and gadgets in the back.

I am really excited about the Fine Molds Slave 1. Unfortunately, I wanted it like it was in Empire Strikes Back. This one is actually Jango Fett's ride from Attack of the Clones. If you look in Star Wars Chronicles (the Star Wars bible for accuracy), you see lots of pipes and gadgets behind Boba. This one had nothing. I just found some greeblies and went wild. As you can see from the picture below, I didn't bother to do it exactly, but it looks much closer to the Empire Strikes Back Slave 1. By the way. The tub that serves as Boba's console is much smaller in the Fine Molds kit. I had to enl

I'm on my 8th model since getting back into the hobby. And mine don't look nearly as nice as yours. VERY GOOD! -

then you are ok... I thought you meant you were dumping the entire airbrush in the lacquer thinner. -

wouldn't lacquer thinner hurt the rubber seals on an airbrush if you soaked it overnight? -
I'm working on the Captain Cardboard X-wing and it is a huuuuuge piece of resin. Not my pictures below... but I thought this would be interesting to see... I used 2 part epoxy glue for the major connections. I wanted to use Gap filler CA glue to fill some seems. Has anyone had any problem with the two types of glues reacting badly with each other? I assume not... but you know what happens when you assume!

I have an Anthem 155 as well. It's my first airbrush and I've been pleased with it. I'm also a fan of Badger's customer service.

Stuka... my first pre-shade attempt
My_name_1s_MUD replied to My_name_1s_MUD's topic in In-Progress Pics
awwwww man. i lost the rear wheel. It snapped off and I have no idea where it went. Don't you just hate that? You're almost done with a model and then you can't find a piece.... arrrrgh! -
Stuka... my first pre-shade attempt
My_name_1s_MUD replied to My_name_1s_MUD's topic in In-Progress Pics
Here's a sample of the top. Because of the dark color... the pre-shading doesn't seem to be as apparent as the bottom. I'm applying the next color in the camo tonight... it is lighter... so it should show the pre-shade more. -

Please look at that tutorial I referenced earlier in this thread. It is well worth the time to view. It's downloadable. I really think you need to SEE this instead of reading about it. -
Me too! I just posted this one in the In Progress Forum. I'm very pleased with my first attempt.

Buy yourself some Formula 409 cleaner. It's great for removing grease... this will take off the mold release from any resin or styrene kit. Just a quick spray and rinse off with water and you are done.

Stuka... my first pre-shade attempt
My_name_1s_MUD replied to My_name_1s_MUD's topic in In-Progress Pics
I had one previous attempt on another model about six months ago... and I gave up. This one worked out great. Actually the best tip I got was to watch this video: Testor's Scale Workshop Pre-shading Tutorial -
I have just got back into the hobby about a year ago and I have been very cautious about trying to pre-shade or post shade. My airbrushing skills are not very well developed. However, I finally got the courage to try my first pre-shade. Here it is... the bottom of my 1/48th Revell/Monogram Pro-Modeler series (I believe this is a repackage of the Hasegawa kit). I will attempt the top tomorrow. Thanks, Brian

Pagano's Little Bird is awesome! I really love it. Felt like I was watching Blackhawk Down again.
